^ And she's a fascinating character who people want to see more of.

I like fan service because I'm curious about what became of certain characters, story points and whatnot. If done well, it's world building and if done poorly, it really is just contrived fan service.

I'd much rather see Captain Ramsey again.
Given the fact that the TV crew has already worked with the voice actress and the fact that they already have the prerequisite artwork, I'd say her coming back in a later season is basically a foregone conclusion.

Right. I'm interested in seeing what Lefler has been up to since TNG. What kind of officer has she grown into? Did she join the Maquis? Did she become a pirate or a smuggler? A well written story can explore her character with great effect.

There are a ton of characters I want to explore more of but rarely works out. I'd rather have something new than an attempt at supposed world building that ends up contrived fan service.

Lefler was one of the few characters from TNG I actually liked. She was interesting and fascinating and one that enjoy. So, while it pains me to say it, no, I don't want to see her back. Leave me wanting more, not wishing they hadn't done what they had.

But...I'm enjoying it.
Then by all means continue.

And Trek will continue to become so insular as to cease to be relevant to any audience beyond the few who don't follow the references.

I would hope for more from it. But, alas, it appears that short term enjoyment is valued over long term viability.

Enjoy.

With all means, I don't mind that Ashley Judd reprise her character role as Robin Lefler. I don't think she a captain, a lieutenant commander maybe. Then again a Lieutenant Commanders can also be a C.O. of a starfleet ship. She probably be incommanded of a frigate, like a New Orlean Class starship.

Just to be clear, Patrick Stewart was 47 when TNG began (although he was technically playing a 59-year-old). Brent Spiner was about 38, playing a Lieutenant Commander. Commander Riker, having skipped several opportunities to become a captain, I estimate was about 50 when he took command of the Titan. Right now, Ashley Judd is 52. What admiral did she piss off to get demoted two ranks?

I'm guessing if they put in the Star Trek New Frontier book series by Peter David in, she most likely will have a rank of Captain at the time of Lower Deck time period.

I'll continue to say that the canon and continuity of Star Trek is one of its most valuable assets and should be used. Trek has frequently revisited old characters to great success. If they can bring Vash back on DS9, or Barclay back on Voyager, they can bring Robin Lefler back on Lower Decks. I trust in the ability of the Lower Decks writers to reintroduce her character. She did so little on TNG there's hardly anything that needs to be mentioned.
