Spoilers Let’s talk about the destruction of Trek utopia…

You did hit the nail on the head here!
And as I wrote before, I've been waiting for a return to the 24th century and then it become like this.
It's like not being able to have a smoothie in years and when you finally can buy one, it's made of sour milk and cactus pieces.
I wanted the 24th century, not the 2020's.
Is the 24th century not able to become sour? :wtf:

See I don't get that attitude. There's plenty of shows I don't like and don't watch, but if other people enjoy them, why not let them have their fun? It's no skin off my nose.

Lord knows there's no shortage of other stuff for me to watch, what with there being 500 channels and streaming services and what-not these days. Hell, there's more media than any one person can possibly partake of.

Picard and Discovery are destroying everything that came before. I care about Star Trek and I don’t like seeing it messed with. There is a reason why shows like cobra kai are so popular and why Picard and discovery aren’t. The producers of cobra kai respect the source material and the universe feels like a cohesive whole. The producers of these new trek shows aren’t respecting their source material and it’s turning people away. They had to change everything from the look to the depiction of the future. Watching Picard I felt it was 21st century people in the 24th century. They even had clothes from styles over 380 years old. Discovery is even worse with its changing of everything even the look of the view screens. God awful.

Okay, I'll bite. Besides the clothing nitpick what about PIC is so offensive to Trek canon and continuity? DSC, yeah, it has some troublesome and annoying visuals but PIC largely goes out of its way to remain aesthetically consistent with Berman Era Trek of the 24th century. PIC is basically Berman Trek with a darker tone. Which basically makes it DS9 with androids and Patrick Stewart.

Is it tonal or largely cosmetic?

DSC and PIC have been popular. They've done enough to merit renewal (more than once in the case of DSC) and I know of many lifelong fans who enjoy them both. They're doing things differently to previous Trek, but that's hardly inherently bad.

Eh. I still don't get it. Even if the new shows are not to your taste, how does it hurt you if the rest of us enjoy them?

And the earlier shows, that came before, haven't been "destroyed." They're still there to watch whenever you feel like it, with all the virtues they originally possessed. They haven't been retroactively ruined just because you don't like the most recent prequels and sequels. Heck, if I thought a beloved story was "destroyed" every time I was disappointed by a sequel, I would have no favorites left. :).

And that applies to books, movies, comics, and TV shows.

I'm not a big fan of what they did to to the Creature from the Black Lagoon in the third movie, back in 1956, but I still love the original film. And I'm not going to insist that other people not be given the opportunity to watch and enjoy that third movie, The Creature Walks Among Us.

To each their own.

No one is forcing you to watch it. Let people enjoy what they want, stop wishing that something people like should be cancelled. It's self centered and egotistical.

Then you'd like Lower Decks. It isn't dark like Picard. It's light hearted and cheerful.

Hmmm yeah pretty much.
Why do you hate other people so much?

I'm going to go out on a limb, take a wild guess, and say I don't think Pubert is a fan of DS9 or VOY.

But, human beings are still failable, and the Federation went through severe catastrophes that would impact their world view.
Yes, but as I wrote before, I really hope that the life in and development of the Federation won't sink as low as the 2010's and 2020's.
