It’s one of those mysteries that will likely not be explained for another 20 years. My take? Change for the sake of change. Nothing more deep than that.OK I had another look.. Why did they do that? They never did that in Enterprise with the Orions or any other Trek with Orions. Why do that now?
There were Orions serving in Starfleet in ST 2009
See, thinking the same thing. I bought she was way off her meds and in need of a padded room and maybe some nurturing. Not acting lessons.Oops!
Well, in that case, nothing jumped out to me as bad about SMG's acting. It's just SMG playing Burnham in the Mirror Universe the way she does in the Prime, but coming at it from a more evil angle.
If I wasn't thinking about it, then that's a good sign. At least from my point of view.
That's the whole point of the character. Mirror burnham is a narcissistic and completely unhinged psychopath. Having known someone like that in real life i can tell you SMG did a really good job.See, thinking the same thing. I bought she was way off her meds and in need of a padded room and maybe some nurturing. Not acting lessons.
I get a “the muppets show” feel anytime they show up.On the bright side I didn't even noticed they'd changed Orion makeup until someone pointed out the small differences. That's a very good and extremely subtle alteration. I just thought they were more or less the same as ENT Orions.
I would never have said "prosthetic" unless someone here linked to it.

Well, he is a great leader, I guess he looks up to her.Yes, Osyraa is Kermit's hot aunt

Anyone noticed that Carl looks like a twentieth-century detective (e.g. Hercule Poirot, Jules Maigret, Joseph Rouletabille...)?
or W.C. Fields?
I don't mind it now that I know what it is but at first my brain kept telling me something was very wrong with her face but I couldn't tell what and it was freaking me out a littleThe overuse of prosthetics in this series does annoy me. I find it distracting from the acting and it breaks my immersion. I miss the days of "here's a rubber nose and/or forehead and some body paint and go."
Aren't some of the Orions just green makeup with digitally-enhanced skin texture to make them look smoother and more unnblemished?
