Side note - I did a check of the Federation starship mentioned in this episode. At Wikipedia, Hiraga Gennai was a Japanese polymath from the Edo period, who happened to be homosexual and wrote books on homosexuality.

“In the original teleplay for "The City on the Edge of Forever", the Guardians of the Time Vortex were 9-foot (2.7 meter) tall, humanoid statue-like beings.”

They’re sorta going back to some of the original ideas. The idea of a humanoid guardian at least

No. I'm sorry. I can't believe they wasted a whole episode on this nonsense.

Well, Karl's just this higher level being and Star Trek history geek who mocked up a prop newspaper, you know.

No reason to sue us, Mr. Executor of Mr Ellison's literary estate.

Most of this episode can be summed up with the words "I don't care".

Because the simple fact is, I don't care about the Empresses journey of self discovery through her past in the mirror universe. Mainly because it's almost completely meaningless to the story of Discovery itself.

It's especially glaring here, because they spend all of two minutes on the main plot, and we find out Discovery in all likelyhood actually is responsible for the burn. Not how most people expected mind you, but it was a crashed Kelpian ship at the source, and if it wasn't for Burnham's time traveling, the Kelpians would have continued to be stuck on their planet and not traveling around on spaceships.

The first two acts had me really excited. I thought it was setting up a good old fashioned David Lynchy Kafka dilemma thought piece only to turn around and go full stupid half-way through. And the stupid isn't over with.

    What a disappointment.

The Kelpien who sent the message looks like Siranna - same actress?
Nice to see Terran costumes again! But that crown is a little silly XD
Daughter of Rome seems to confirm that the Empire is a continuation or successor to the Roman Empire

First part seems to be a significant issue, but the 2nd is actually touched upon in the episode. It references how What the Emperor is going through is even worse then what the Temporal agent went through (and that was what like a hundred years less then what the crew traveled) and that's because the Mirror Universe is getting further and further away from the "Prime" universe. So if the "Kelvin" universe hasn't moved significantly further away from the "Prime" Universe and the amount of time travel was considerably less than I would expect the impact would be far,, far more mild.

Did Siranna follow the Disco and end up a little further in the past?

The GoF could've brought Rodent back cause he wasn't supposed to shoot himself with a phaser - is Carl Rodent?

Okay. The Whovian in me loved the part with (who I'm assuming is) the Guardian of Forever and the door.

Yup--it's amazing that they explain it for you IF you are paying attention! Time travel--no prolem. MU--no problem. Time travel of 1000 years AND MU.......problem with the universes diverging. Makes as much sense as anything in Sci-Fi.
