On a scale of 1 to 10 of stupid things in Trek it's barely a 3.Yeah, that was pretty stupid.
Exactly. The people that think discover is doing a great job with canon and say the things like “well it’s a tradition to make change the look of the Klingons.” The biggest change for the Klingons came in TMP then they tweaked in in the later movies and a bit more for TNG but basically it was pretty consistent. Also DS9 and later Enterprise explained the difference from TOS to the movies and later episodes. Discovery went out of its way to make a huge change in their looks, tech and attitudes just for the sake of change. Just how like they advanced Starfleet tech way beyind what we saw in TOS and even beyond TNG. Why? Why not just start the show past TNG instead of polluting canon so badly? Now they will do STSNW and will they make it the same? Probably. They can’t even make the damn view screen square or the officers quarters having a normal rectangular door. Everything has been changed for the sake of change. Enterprise did it much better when they updated the lighting and graphics for the in a mirror darkly episodes. These guys just don’t respect the old show.,I’ve been watching some of TOS recently and there is some excellent writing there. They weren’t all gems but man a lot of them were.
Just popped in to say I don't think the general public posts reviews...........https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12013210/reviews
Wow, these reviews are like... final episode of Game of Thrones level! The general public REALLY hated this episode.

"James T. Kirk never cried"?
Has this person never seen TSFS and the moment Kirk learns his son has been killed? I know that would require being aware of the franchise which a lot of so-called fans clearly aren't.![]()
@cooleddie74 eats, breaths and shits Star Trek.Have you seen TSFS? Show me the tears you think Kirk shed in this movie, there were none... Not even in TWOK.
How aware of the franchise are you?
Considering about 2/3rds of the reviews there made a huge deal out of the same complaint about Burnham whispering, I'm assuming those were a coordinated review bomb from a single site where the users all discussed what to say in advance.https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12013210/reviews

One of the few season 1 episodes I really liked. But yes, the B-plot was a total mess.DIS Season 1: Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum
IMHO, the worst episode of the first season. The planet-side A-plot could have been good, if they had fixed a few issues (energy beings with yurts? And a giant crystal transmitter?)
What a mess indeed.DIS Season 2: Saints of Imperfection
Didn't mind this one. Not the best of Picard but not bad either IMHO.PIC Season 1: Stardust City Rag
In Star Trek it surely does, as you correctly point out. In the real world probably not, but it’s not we can be 100% certain of that as of now.The human mind clearly doesn't work as "software" which is separable from the "wetware" of our brain,
I rewatched the whole TOS last year and couldn’t help but notice how clever and poetic the writing was in many episodes. If anything, TOS is underrated!I’ve been watching some of TOS recently and there is some excellent writing there.
Or perhaps there was really A LOT of whispering, even for Burnham’s standards? No one was coordinating me while watching but it’s something I noticed immediately.Considering about 2/3rds of the reviews there made a huge deal out of the same complaint about Burnham whispering, I'm assuming those were a coordinated review bomb from a single site where the users all discussed what to say in advance.
Maybe if The Shat was better at crying on command/camera..........it's hard to do!Have you seen TSFS? Show me the tears you think Kirk shed in this movie, there were none... Not even in TWOK.

Ya but there are people giving 7s and 8s but when you read what they say they really did not enjoy this episode. The most critical are always just the loudest.
Look at the ratings result to see what the majority really thinks.
80% rate it higher than average in this thread.
Did you repeat the same phrase about Burnham whispering across dozens of clustered titles and posts as if whispering were the dominant characteristic of the episode? To have that observation independently is not wrong or impossible, but it was odd seeing approximately 2/3rds of the negative reviews out of the most recent ones I read sharing the same complaint and having that be their most significant observation about the episode.Or perhaps there was really A LOT of whispering, even for Burnham’s standards? Ya but where would Burnham be in that sceneI think it would have been better thematically for T'rina to give the data to Saru as an olive branch. It would have been a nice endnote to the relationship they developed during the episode.
why do you think that it’s the same persons posting similar reviews over and over while it’s much simpler that several viewers got to similar conclusions?Did you repeat the same phrase about Burnham whispering across dozens of clustered titles and posts as if whispering were the dominant characteristic of the episode? DS9 should have just ignored it. Im sure we could have all used our imaginations and enjoyed the episodeDS9 didn't explain a thing. It just lampshaded a change - and nonsensically so, since it would have had to mean that Bashir and O'Brien had never seen a single image of a TOS-era Klingon or ever heard in passing that they once looked different.
Apparently lampshading 15 years later, and clumsy explanation 25 years later is sufficient - I guess we have another decade or so before a future show needs to address Disco's changes.
Still waiting on an explanation for why Romulans have forehead ridges in every series other than TOS, in direct contradiction to a TOS plot point.
