Potato heads ARE making a return

I wonder if we'll see a return to the more sinister looking Tom Baker era look( Charred Potato) instead of yukon gold version

Terraphiles was being written at the time when Moffat would have had an outline for season 6, and was intending to use Jack in A Good Man Goes to War, and because of that, Jack wasn't allowed to be used in Terraphiles. Similar thing with the Twelfth Doctor book with Bernice Summerfield. The original plan was to use River instead, but Moffat was already writing The Husbands of River Son which made her off-limits for that book. Hell, even RTD had a short story planned for 2013 which was supposed to be about the end of the Time War and the Eighth Doctor's regeneration which had to be abandoned because of Day of the Doctor, though that at least did see a release as Lockdown Bonus Material earlier this year.

The novel with Ace meeting the Thirteenth Doctor, as well as all the stuff you mentioned in the audios only happened because there are no plans for them to be done on the show. Part of the approval process tie-in materials go through is to make sure they aren't covering material that is being planned for the show.
The same kind of thing has happened a lot with the Star Trek books. A few of the authors post over in the Trek Literature section of the boards, and at least a couple of them have stories about being told they can't do something because one of the shows were already working on a similar episode.

I haven't read The Coming of the Terraphiles. It seems a shame they couldn't explicitly have Jack meet 11. It seems so arbitrary. 13 can meet Ace in a book, Jack can meet 6 in an audio, River can meet any (and every Doctor), but Jack can't meet 11 in a book. I wonder if in that specific case they had specific plans to have him meet 11 on TV that didn't pan out.

The thing about Terraphiles -- which doesn't have a great reputation in fandom but I love to bits -- is that it's set far into the future, and there's no reason why Jack would go by the name "Jack Harkness" (which wasn't even his name) in that time period. There's nothing in the way Moorcock writes the character that precludes him from being Jack, so you can read Cornelius as one of the many Cornelei in Moorcock's Multiverse or you can read him as Jack Harkness.

That worked out for the best anyways, because that book got me to finally start listening to the Benny audios.

The Sontaran episode they're shooting at the moment is set at Halloween, so possibly a hint as to when they're expecting the series to air?

Watching this kind of stuff being filmed, without all of the stuff added in post production always looks so goofy.

Sure, but it's even goofier without all of the effects and stuff.

Yes, but I think that is true for any show since the actors often have to react as if something is there that is not. Check out the behind the scenes of a Marvel movie, Star Wars movie or Star trek movie where the actors are reacting to a tennis ball on a stick. LOL.
