Even though Romero's zombie movies don't exist in 'The Walking Dead' universe, we could maybe look to them as examples of what happens when someone is bitten.

In Dawn of the Dead, Roger is bitten in the left forearm and left calf, with a good chunk being taken out of the latter.

The leg is subsequently re-injured when a zombie squeezed the bandage while Roger is attempting to hot wire a car.

Later in the upstairs hideout, Fran says the infection is spreading fast and she asks if Roger can't be taken to a med unit.

Peter responds that he'd seen half-a-dozen guys get bitten and none lasted more than three days.

So when Roger finally dies and turns, we knows it's at least three days latter.

One wonders if only the arm had been bitten, if Peter had amputated it then and there, would Roger been able to live. In my opinion, it was the bite on the leg that did the most damage.

In 'Day of the Dead', Miguel is bitten in the arm while trying to corral a zombie.

He panics and goes running through the mine before being knocked unconscious, whereby Sarah amputated his arm with a machete and cauterized the stump with a torch.

She says to Rhodes that she believes she got the infection in time, but seeing as Miguel was running through the mine and pumped up on adrenaline, the chances are that the infection pretty much spread through his body at this point; and Rhodes reaffirms what Peter said in the previous movie, that Miguel will be dead in a week or so.

We don't know if this is the case, as Miguel commits suicide later in the film only a few hours after being bitten.

So, we know from Sarah that the infection can be stopped if amputation is applied immediately to the bitten area; however, three days to a week is how long someone will last if the wound isn't treated.

I can't really see them killing Virginia with a zombie bite, they're probably going to want to keep her around until one of the heroes, probably Morgan or Strand, gets a chance to take her out.

    Season 6 / Episode 7 - "Damage from the Inside" -
    MID-SEASON FINALE

Virginia and the Gang: According to Dakota, Dorie disappeared over one week before this episode. Aside from being on the show for what I feel are a couple of predictable reasons, Dakota is more trouble than she's worth, but I doubt the showrunners will ever have Virginia take any action against her (like locking her up for a period of time to teach Dakota a lesson). One of those predictable reasons might be Dakota attempting to--or succeeding in killing her sister, but that would subvert the entire build-up / expectation of Morgan earning that job.

    Morgan:
He's still short with details--even to Alicia. I would think he suspects one of his group may have become a mole for Virginia--other than Strand.
He's wincing in pain from the shoulder wound. Its no longer infected, so it could be a plot device to "de-power" him before a larger fight unfolds.
Morgan bending on the Dakota issue? Come on. There's no strategic or even moral value in not delivering her to Virginia. The full weight of Virginia's group will land on Morgan's group all over again.

    Strand:
The showrunners need to make a decision about this character: is he truly working to disrupt Virginia's group, or is he a flip-flopping cutthroat? Or, considering the tease of 6B, he might have something to do with Daniel's condition. More on that in NOTES.

    Grace:
Good to see her back on the show, but she has not delivered her baby. I thought Virginia would use her as bait for Morgan, and that's exactly what's happening.

    Alicia / Charlie:
Alicia plotting to appeal to the spraypaint gang, plotting against Strand...sounds like she's going to make matters worse. When she told Virginia she knew of some place to go (she did not need to say that much), she was referring to the long-abandoned stadium her family once secured. That's a depressing thought, as she would be flooded with memories of the family she lost there--Madison's self-sacrifice in particular. Not exactly the most psychologically healthy move to make.

What was the point of attacking Ed, the (easily defeated) taxidermy guy? His place was safe, out of the way, and he pointed out, had enough food to survive for years. Ah, but too often, the writers think they're having Alicia be "assertive" by making assbrained decisions (like the one that exposed her to radiation last season), and actually posturing as if she was going to prevent Morgan from taking Dakota back to her sister. I do not care how Alicia fares against walkers, Morgan is a trained martial artist who is highly effective against the the dead and the living (including the Ranger convoy), and would make short work of her if they ever came to blows. Silly of the showrunners to even have Alicia ignore that fact. Same with her stand-off with Strand--that tail-pipe weapon vs a gun? Alicia would have been dropped before she could blink.

If not for Morgan's timely arrival, that trio was not going to make it...yet Alicia is suspicious...no reason why.

    NOTES:
Strand informed Virginia that her sister ran off with Morgan, Alicia & Charlie (triggering the war to come), and he now knows Grace is alive, but again, what is he going to do? ..and does he have anything to do with Daniel's bloody head as seen in the teaser for 6B? The last thing I want to see is Strand have some "crisis of conscience" and sacrifice himself, the way he was so willing to do to others; that's not a creative coda, but a case of showrunners no longer knowing what to do with a character.

Regarding Grace...it would be nice if she has no leaning toward suicide, "taking one for the team", or is mortally wounded, only to die in Morgan's arms. That would not be in line with the newfound hope she felt in season 5, and Morgan can no longer be some force of nature only living to do "things" he did not want to, only to feel he has no place among his friends. That's Carol all over again. As Fear the Walking Dead is most likely moving toward its last couple of seasons, Morgan deserves to finally be happy.

    GRADE: B-.

The characters are truly more separated here...divisions growing.

Each community they touch seems to fall apart. Ginny’s group, for all its ugliness, gives some sense of stability. I think Strand sees this, and is overcompensating for being an agent of chaos.

The others may wind up furthering the cause of the death cult far more than they ever could alone.

All of this will end badly

Okay episode. Not really finale material, but in its defense, it wasn't intended to be, it's just the last episode completed before the shutdown. The revelation at the ending that Grace is being held prisoner in a shed and the Virginia is going to use her as a pawn to get Dakota back is a decent enough cliffhanger to leave us with until whenever the show returns. The stand-off between Morgan, Alicia and Strand was an interesting moment and Ed's Walker creations were kind of cool looking. Otherwise, the episode was a bin on the predictable side.

..and for the wrong reasons. Dakota is not worth the freedom and survival of the group, which is what Morgan and Alicia's stand is threatening.

Sort of mirrors TWD; one can make the strong argument that until Rick's group came along, Hershel's farm and the Alexandria Safe Zone were surviving with few problems (aside from the way Deanna exiled members as a form of permanent punishment). If Rick's group never encountered either, its a good chance they would still be around in the current WD timeline.

I would not be surprised if at least three of Morgan's group do not survive this season.

..and that begs the question about what Morgan will do; he loves Grace and does not want to lose her, but he knows the only way he will ever have a chance of rescuing her is for Virginia to not be on the warpath because of Dakota. As a character, Morgan is painted as being conflicted about the two sides of his view on life; if the new "hunter" version wins said conflict, he is being stupid (including listening to Alicia about Dakota) and Grace will end up on the business end of a weapon, because his group is outnumbered (even if Sherry's gang joined their side) and if anyone is relying on that SWAT van...it does not have unlimited ammunition, so it loses much of is value.

I found it to be a BS scene; unless Morgan & Alicia were testing Strand--hoping he would back down, they had no chance of winning the stand-off if Strand was determined to take Dakota back to her sister. Gun over axe and tailpipe.

New series low, and by a significant margin for the finale. 1.09 million. Why? This has probably been the best season yet...

I really enjoyed this one, mainly because I'm a fan of Raphael Sbarge, and I thought he did a great job as Ed.
I didn't think the standoff with Alicia, Morgan, and Strand was that bad. It came across to me as more of them trusting that Strand wouldn't actually kill them, which he did not.
I think this is going to be the end of Strand as a part of Morgan and Alicia's group, or at least it should be. Even if he really is working to bring down Virgian, which is starting to look a bit more questionable after the way the episode ended, I don't see the others being willing to trust him again after what he's been doing this season.
As for not giving up Dakota, I think it goes back to them trying to be decent people, and not wanting to force her to go back to her sister, when she really doesn't want to. There's also the fact that having her with could give them a lot of useful information on her sister.
I'm curious if they'll explain how/why Virginia killed her and Dakota's parents.
The red head Ranger, Samuels looks a lot like Virgiana, I thought it was her when first showed her, and was trying to figure out why she had two hands.

I wonder if this was planned as the Halloween episode. :rommie:

When Alicia peeked over the balustrade into Dr Frankenstein's la-bor-atory, I thought we were kind of veering into Z Nation territory-- and we were, a little bit. But I like these little stories about how individual people or small groups have adapted to the Zombie Apocalypse and the fall of civilization. This is the kind of thing that I'm looking forward to seeing the upcoming anthology series. The episode was definitely in the classic deserted mansion tradition that started with The Old Dark House, danced through Rocky Horror Picture Show, and is still with us with stuff like Get Out. The Mad Scientist was an interesting character with an interesting idea, driven over the edge by guilt over the loss of his family. Unfortunately, they didn't make too much of his creations, except in the last few seconds of his life-- I got the feeling they didn't want to go too far into Halloween territory.

Aside from that, we got a little movement in the overall plot, with some character conflict to boot. Apparently Dorie really did take off, since he hasn't been seen in a couple of weeks. Morgan's plan to build his secret refuge clashed with Alicia's plan to take Charlie back to the stadium-- even though they both planned to sell out Dakota at first. Luckily, they both gave up on that idea and Morgan's plan won out, because I think the stadium would have been a really bad idea. And then they both ran up against Strand, who also planned to sell out Dakota-- poor kid. I think Strand was truly intending to help everyone get to safety, but since Alicia double-crossed him now I'm not so sure.

And finally we find out what happened to Grace-- Virginia has been holding her as a bargaining chip. It looks like it must have been about seven or eight months since last season, because it seems like she's ready to deliver the goods.

Didn't Morgan say John was with him and the others at his new community? I was a little surprised they had that happen offscreen, that seems like kind of a big moment to skip over.
I remeberd a couple other things I forgot about in my other post.
I wasn't to surprised by the Grace reveal, since we hadn't seen her yet, I thought they were saving her fate for some kind of big reveal.
I noticed one of the people from Sherry's group in the trailer, so it'll be interesting what kind of role they play in the rest of the season. Sherry is a regular so we must see a fair amount of her at least.

Unlikely. IIRC, the season was originally meant to have a June premiere, meaning this episode would was likely intended to air in August.

The make-up and art design people must have had a blast putting together all of Ed's zombies.

I didn't catch that. Would John even know about Morgan's community? I suppose they could meet up in a flashback.

Oh, okay. It seemed so Halloweeny. :rommie:

We're probably due for a flashback then, because John was headed back to his cabin the last we saw of him.

I'm happy, I've been enjoying it the last couple seasons. The new characters like Morgan, John, and Al have helped to make up for the loss of so much of the original cast.

Pretty good trailer. Very curious to see who John Glover is, and how he ties into everything that's going on.
I wonder what Morgan did to piss Dorie off so much?
Things are not looking good for Daniel there, I'm guessing Virginia found out what he's up to.

Trailers are often deliberately misleading, but I will stick to my prediction that at least three of Morgan's group will die in this season.
