Spoilers Robert Meyer Burnett: "Terra Firma" will ruin Trek canon

You won’t get a fair and non-biased discussion here.
Care to tell me where to find that? I've been around enough Trek forums to know for the past decade to know that "fair" is all in the eye of the beholder.
STD
Boringham
Not Prime
Continuity
I take it you haven't been run out of town yet, then? Because, honestly if people don't regard DSC in continuity then that's no problem for me. I simply find it interesting to try and discuss the show in light of other Trek but hey we make it work.

Boringham? Childish remark that is difficult to take seriously, like Jar Jar Abrams. It's stupid name calling to my mind, and not a fair discussion.

But, thus far, it seems people still post them so we seem to be OK.

STD
Boringham
Not Prime
Continuity

Some of the terms you really have to be careful stating or community will crush you. Why CAN'T I call Discovery STD? Why can't I call Burhnam Boringham after yet another monologue? God forbid someone mentions STD, sorry, Discovery not being in Prime universe. And if you land on the wrong side of Continuity argument you'll be run out of the forum.
People who use terms like STD, Boringham, and Not Prime are not using criticism. QED

Most of the complaints tend to boil down to it’s different than a show made in the 60s and shows made in the 80s up to the 00s. If you can’t handle that then don’t watch it.

Enough to keep watching this thread and posting in it :p
I don't watch the 'what's the weather' or 'random thoughts' threads, star wars subforum, and stuff like that, and I quickly unwatch threads that I don't care about anymore. That's far better than reminding people in those threads how much I don't care about what they care about.

Should you come by additional spoilers for as-yet-unaired episodes, I hope you will do the gentlemanly thing and keep that information private until such time that we can all voice our praise or disappointment.
Please post them with spoiler tags, I'm curious.

It's literally made the rest of the franchise obsolete by showing that the Federation Falls to Absolute bulshit, what more can it do?
literally just throwing out the entire Federation
Is TOS obsolete cause Kirk dies in GEN? And the Federation didn't fall, and wasn't thrown out. Perhaps you should watch things before you criticize them XD

Internal continuity should and has been respected when necessary, but sometimes it just needs to be bent a little.
That's the key. I think most of our differences on this board and in the whole fandom are only about the degree to which it should be respected or bent.

Assuming that any piece of media is specifically designed to be an insult to the fans is childish at best and delusional at worst.

Yes, Kurtzman wants to make his mark on the franchise, but that’s what any creator should do. If the only way to make “good Trek” is to tiptoe around the various pieces of canon, then what’s the point?

everyone working from TNG to Enterprise all made their mark while staying generally consistant and without fucking over the franchise. Why does kurtzman get to just radically destroy everything and get a pass for it? If Voyager had introduced Klingons that look like shit and then destroyed the Federation, Bremen and Braga would have been thrown off the top of a building by a mob. But kurtzman, the guy who is the dictionary definition of failing upward in Hollywood, gets praised for doing it.

Everyone likes what they like, but it comes off as some kind of cult thinking with the people that praise kurtzman's original series that stole the Star Trek name

Does he? I doubt it, based on his approach to the material from way back in 2007-2009. His interest in the franchise seems largely managerial and oriented toward career building - he's a younger, far more social media-savvy Rick Berman. He may have served as an emergency line producer on one of his own shows for a while when things fell apart mid-stream, but generally he employs creators - plural - in the form of writers, producers and designers who really appear to have a lot of room to move in the directions they take. He keeps the whole thing on course, and the CBS executives happy.

Stole what now? What the hell as Kurtzman done to Trek's name beyond expand it to people who don't want to watch other Trek series? Seriously? I have heard this argument since Abrams' Trek and still makes zero sense. Star Trek didn't stop being Star Trek because Kurtzman went a different direction.

Nothing has been destroyed.

You've been around here long enough that you ought to know what is wrong with this statement, as well as the avalanche of responses that will follow, no?
