Spoilers 31st/32nd Century Ships Revealed

...Also, either version would have this particular word in too small a print to determine whether this was the class of the ship in Federation Starfleet service, or UE Starfleet service. No contradiction in the two organizations happening to share a class name between themselves, even if duplication were a strict no-no in both.

Given the name's stature in Starfleet and Federation history (and that the name itself would probably instill hope for a future in some that are disheartened after the Burn), it would more be Enterprise-Yes.
I don't think its Federation history. I think its franchise history insisting upon replicating the past.

About the Franklin, it still belonged to the Freedom-class. The biographical file on her captain mentioned the class name.

About the highest registry number, we still do not have the full registry for the ship with the registry NCC-4774xx. We see this number again on Burnham's holographic noteboard, however, it is largely illegible. This could be the highest number.
Not seeing the image here either!

Wondering about the "non-celebrity" ships also showing up in the Federation+Starfleet HQ scenes...

Because they're embeding from Memory-Alpha which has anti-embeding features (all wikia/fandom sites do).

Please upload the images from Memory-Alpha somewhere else. Don't directly post them from the site.

Now I can't view the image on Memory-Alpha because I saw it broken here. I think I need to clear my cache or cookies.

This is from a 4K release of the movie, how can anyone read that class name? Was there a clear image of the screen as part of a company's VFX reel?

I didn't say I agreed with the logic, but it's just the old adage of if something works, you stay with it.

"Da kids wanna see dat Enterprise, da ship dat Dr. Spock guy was on!"
See, here's the thing-I don't think it works. I think with Kirk and Picard it did very well but there is no pressing need, beyond nostalgia, to bring the Enterprise back. This is an opportunity for Discovery to do something different, like it's been doing, and show that Star Trek is more than the name Enterprise.

That's just my take. No doubt the Enterprise-Whatever class will be revealed and people will both love it and hate it all at the same time.

Too late for Discovery. You not only had the Spock connection, but the Enterprise under Pike's command appeared and played a role in last season. I was wondering if in this season that at some point Michael will at least try to look up what happened to Spock. Enterprise will at least be mentioned then if it happens, and maybe at least a reference to the name still out there.

Beyond that, fandom has a different view of Star Trek than a casual viewer. To a casual viewer, the Enterprise, in whatever form, is as a part of Star Trek as pointy ears, "Make it So", and "Beam me up, Scotty".

Oh, I'm aware. But they went to the future to further avoid such things then do something with it by not going the easy path with the Enterprise. The casual viewer would enjoy the story just as much if the story is well done.

Regardless, Starfleet should move on from the Enterprise and have different ships at its disposal. The Enterprise, especially in TOS, was unique but only as variant. It was not the most important ship in the fleet. It's importance is overblown.

Agreed. I think Discovery itself was supposed to be a sea change in moving on from the Enterprise in the franchise-sense, and there's no reason to continue to wallow in nostalgia as the Enterprise was featured last season. Season 1 got all the newbie Kelvin Trekverse fans on board with its production values and action-packed pacing, Season 2 got the original Trekverse fans on board, and Season 3 should be entirely dedicated to telling a new story.

The TOS Enterprise was also both 'Starship' and Constitution Class.

I’m perfectly fine with the Franklin being a Freedom class starship, despite the name conflict with the 24th century Freedom class. It’s far better than it being an NX class based on its registry, since it’s obviously not an NX class. The only real problem is that the Franklin was built before the NX-01 Enterprise, so its class should technically be a letter/letters, not an actual name.

I think there might be such an image, but I'm misremembering the company name right now.

Not necessarily. Navies now have names for classes of certain ships.
