2239 Discovery Shuttles used in 3188?!?!?! - Trekyards Analysis

I would have rather seen a TOS shuttle there, but it doesn’t really matter since I missed it anyway.

Now I'm imagining an HBO executive saying something like "Per every million viewers each season gets, we grant you one dragon."

Well...almost.

Hollywood "lightbulb" joke:

Q: How many writers does it take to change a lightbulb?
A:
Does it have to be changed?

Q: How many producers does it take to change a lightbulb?
A:
Does it have to be a lightbulb?

Q: How many Teamsters does it take to change a lightbulb?
A:
Three. You got a problem with that?

Back to the original discussion, I wonder how many eyebrows would be raised if a steam locomotive where to appear in a contemporary drama...and think about some carriage from the 13th century!
Sure, why not. There's still a steam locomotive near my house, and my wife would love to have a carriage, so she wouldn't mind.

See, here's the thing-if it works, go for it.

You should be above that type of behavior when you're part of this great Trek community.
Why? Trek fans, as established, are a varied group, and sarcasm is very much a part of most Trek fans I have known. Star Trek fans are still human and sometimes enjoy sarcasm, and looking at ideas as sideways. I slowly beginning to get that somehow Trek ships rise to the levels of characters for some-for reasons that continue to elude me, at least on an emotional level. But, even with things that I like I am very sarcastic.

So, I guess I'm not "above" such behavior and therefore don't belong in the "great" Trek community.:shrug:

Okay, getting back to the original theme of the thread, yes a DSC shuttle wireframe model was reused in the season premiere. I didn't even notice until Trekyards mentioned it and even then I had to squint to see that it had the same outlines only with a different exhaust at the rear. It was fine, if really, really lazy and eyeroll-inducing. It was hard for me to care that much in this case since it wasn't meant to be a mid-23rd century Starfleet shuttlecraft and there were other shuttles that were of a completely different design flying around that area. So...yes. Lazy. But this time I didn't even notice nor even now do I care that much.

Nerdrage Level: 4 if I'm feeling particularly cranky and nitpicky.

One's meant in good jest, the other is meant to be offensive towards the other party.
Just because it's part of the human experience, doesn't mean it's necessary to pick a fight with another person.
Or, it's just making fun of an idea that the person finds ridiculous and is not intended as personal attack because ideas are not the same as people. I know it's easy to take offensive, especially online were sarcasm is less than clear but there is a line between attacking a person and heaping scorn upon an idea. At least, for me. My ideas, my opinions, are not me.

Mileage will vary.

That's why I have no issue with what you said to me while the other guy just acted douchey about the same issue.

Why are the VFX artists so lazy as to re-use 2239 era Discovery Shuttles in 3188?

I tend to agree with Commander Cockins on this one, they must be trolling us.

What does it matter what they look like on the outside? Lets say the tech on the inside reflects centuries of improvements in engine power and efficiency that we know nothing about. Or how come we cant say that the shuttles did change over time then the look reverted back. You know the saying, everything old becomes new once again.

I would never have known the design was reused had that video not been posted. Even then you have to squint to tell it's the same shape. Yeah, I didn't like them reusing it in PIC or "Children of Mars(SHO)" but here...meh. I would never have realized it was in there had I not watched the Trekyards video about it.

I don't know - it stuck out like Arex' third arm to me when we first saw the Mercantile. But I didn't really mind...

It’s the creators just trolling the fans
Were the TNG guys trolling the fans when they used marker pens as warp nacelles? TNG needed background ships so they glued various model kits and a bunch of crap together. Discovery needed background traffic so they reused a 23rd century shuttle as one of the blurry flying cars.

This should be a piece of "I bet you didn't notice ..." trivia, not more than that.
