Given the nightmare that is 2020 I was wondering if we were in for another delay on top of the delay we were already getting but the Radio Times has confirmed that shooting starts in a few weeks pretty much on schedule.

I'm guessing we're not getting all of the stories that were originally planned though. Overseas shooting will be out so maybe we're in for a season of studio-based Base Under Siege stories.

I'd been wondering about this the past week or so. Good to see everything's going ahead.

And I would like to point out, Doctor Who seems to be one of the very few shows, if not the only show in 2020 that will air all the episodes it had scheduled to and begin production on the next season at the originally scheduled time. So everyone who's been whining the show is a disorganized mess under Chibnall are going to have to find a new tune to sing now. A show that truly were a disorganized mess wouldn't be able to pull off something like that.

Base Under Siege, Submarine, gotta have a quarry story. Maybe another TARDIS bottle story.

Location shooting should still be doable, indeed it should actually be safer than studio filming given that everyone will be outside in fresh air on location and social distancing is easier to accomplish. Meanwhile in a studio, social distancing is harder to pull off, and everyone's breathing recirculated air.

Mind you, any and all location shooting is going to have to be in Britain, and might not even go too far outside of Cardiff.

Cardiff is back on lockdown, so it might be "not even outside Cardiff"...

If Cardiff is on lockdown, won't that prevent the new season from filming at all?

They either can't leave Cardiff, or can't come back once they do leave.

A TARDIS "bottle season" upcoming. Or else Mandalorian level CGI.

I'm good with that. I've always wanted to see more of the insides of the TARDIS every since I saw The Invasion of Time as a kid.

    have to disagree.

thought it was boring and was quite disappointed with it. Wanted more than a haunted TARDIS story.

To each their own. I liked it. Certainly a better job coming up with an interior than using a warehouse and loading dock 30x over.

    On that we can agree.

Though the interior of the TARDIS reminded me of another ship (might have been the Liberator from B7).

I read the novelisation of Invasion of Time before ever getting to see the serial and yeah was a bit disappointed (that also happened with Tomb of The Cybermen when some stuff was detailed that was never in the episodes).

Well...well...I loved both The Invasion of Time and "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS," warehouses and all! So there! :p

I enjoyed The Invasion of Time more than Journey despite the warehouses. Journey just didn't grab me. Seemed to be largely corridors with a few other things added in. A wasted opportunity.

Shooting has begun, allegedly. Jodie was supposedly seen shooting in Leckwith Woods (which is just on the outskirts of Cardiff) on Sunday night. I'll be waiting for more than one person making a claim on Twitter before I believe it though.

The only reason this works is because he is incapable of putting out a 12-13 episode show on a yearly basis. Basically, him being crap worked out for him in this specific circumstance, but if there had been no COVID he'd still have had another pointless gap year brought on at least partially by his lack of ability. Most shows are delayed because of the pandemic, his show was delayed because he's incapable of making it in a timely manner, and the fact that very few shows were able to be produced normally this year just makes him seem average by comparison. He's still the least productive Who showrunner (and also the worst creatively in my opinion, but that's a different conversation).
