Season 13 starts shooting in a few weeks

But what's the "usual eleven episodes"? Looking at the twenty-two pre-series 13 episodes that made up the Chibnall era so far, it seems like it's ten regular episodes and a special. So there's no way we're getting nine episodes, unless they change their plans, which seems unlikely.

Chibnall did reference the fact that his past two seasons as showrunner have included a Special as part of their production blocks, as has been the case since 2006, but there is no indication that such will be the case this time and the general consensus I've seen is that all 8 episodes he mentions will be part of Series 13 proper.

I had initially overlooked the very strong possibility that a Holiday Special was cut from their plans and went straight to the assumption that Chibnall's comments were falling in line with the BBC's precedent of treating Specials as being separate from the seasons during which they were filmed.

Nothing exciting on 'Children in Need' tonight, just promotion for the "Win a Set Visit (Eventually)" contest, but I note that once again it was just Jodie and Mandip without the boys.

I wouldn't expect confirmation until after the Xmas/New Year's special has aired but I hope we're finally back to a sensible number of companions (i.e. one) again.

Then how else do you explain the "eleven episodes" comment if holiday specials aren't being counted?
Sorry, you were right. I hadn't actually checked the number of episodes, I was just going by the fact that all of the episode lists I've seen always separate the holiday special from the rest of the season.

I hope not, I like finally having more than one one companion. I always like bigger casts, so the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.
Are the new seasons being added to HBOMax in the US day after they air or after the whole season is done? I didn't get HBOMax until after the last season was long done, so I never saw how they were added.

Doesn't BBC America still have TV rights to air new Doctor Who in the US? Assuming that they do, I would guess the episodes would come to streaming after the season was over.

Yeah, but I don't see why that would stop a next day release on HBOMax, plenty of shows that are exclusive to a specific networks have gotten next day releases on streaming servies.

I mean, I can't think of many that do. Even the Netflix/CW agreement keeps episodes off Netflix until a week after the season ended, and that's pretty quick for tv to streaming times. Hulu had/has some day after agreements, but HBO Max isn't Hulu, which was kind of founded on next day TV episode deals.

I'm 99% sure that Amazon Prime, which had the NuWho rights before HBO Max, didn't have next day episode releases, so I doubt that HBO Max will get the episodes day after airing.

I just that maybe since they did a next day release for the HBO stuff, they would just do it for all of the current shows they have on there. Are their CW shows next day, or after the full season?

HBO Max grew out of and replaced HBO Now, which offered its subscribers the ability to view HBO programs the same day they were aired on cable (the shows I signed up to watch were available on HBO Now as soon as they were scheduled to begin airing on HBO's cable channel).

HBO Now was less of a Netflix equivalent and more a way for any person with a bank account to have access to HBO programming without cable, and HBO Max retains that functionality.

So the location where they're currently shooting was accidentally uncovered the other day by a runner out training.

And now "fans" have taken it upon themselves to drop by to try and meet the cast without being concerned by any thoughts of getting production shut down due to violating Covid safety protocols.

What a world.

Ugh! Can the runner not use any common sense?
It's happened to me while I was out running I ran into some filming location at night. But I don't go announce it to the world.

If I ever came across a movie or TV show that was filming, I'd be to nervous about getting in the way to go anywhere near it.
