DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

One problem with the vaccine is that it looks like the majority of people aren't going to take it. The radio station I listen to did a poll, and 82% of people said they weren't going to take it.
And it's not all the anti-vaxxers saying this, a couple of the DJs and a woman who called all said the same thing, they are just rushing this way to fast. That even makes me a little hesitant, at least for the first couple batches.

Well, of course the supplies would be limited to start with, so any working vaccine should go to the highest-risk segments of the population, such as the elderly and health care workers.

There's some promising evidence that an existing BCG tuberculosis vaccine is granting COVID resistance through an unexpected type of immunity: https://www.quantamagazine.org/trained-immunity-offers-hope-in-fight-against-coronavirus-20200914/

To get back to the topic - I am really curious what they do with this supposed restart but everything is remembered.

It could be argued with a Multiverse any type of reboot is unnecessary. The old continuity just continues on another Earth. Does not mean we see more of it though. Pre Crisis On Infinite Earths comics fans often coined terms like Earth 1A and Earth 2B. As a way of explaining stories that were not intentionally meant to be on a different Earth but had inconsistencies with the vast major of stories that were. I could see that used to differentiate Whedon and Snyder’s Justice Leagues.

Preach elsewhere. A sane person realizes that we're getting this virus whether we go to the bar now, or in 20 years. Eventually we'll go and millions will die anyway.

But the idea behind following distancing and other safety measures is to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed as they were early in the pandemic, and now in parts of the U.S. Overwhelmed hospitals means that more people die from other illnesses as well so the death toll becomes higher because of the circumstances the virus creates. Whether we get a vaccine or just better treatments in the next 12 to 18 months, that worry should go away. We may never get a vaccine, but we may have treatments that reduce the mortality rate and other potentially chronic effects. In the meantime, short term pain for long term gain.

I don't know how the approval process will go in the States, but creating something reliable and safe is definitely the goal elsewhere in the world. That is why we are looking at projections to plan for the pandemic until 2022. One way to encourage people to take the vaccine is to prevent school enrolment or even employment based on vaccine records. This is done in many parts of the world. Another alternative is to do what was done for HIV and allow for charges of homicide or assault for those who infect others.

I am really not looking forward to a potential reboot scenario. It is overused. And there is nothing in previous movies that require a reboot--just don't mention them specifically and fans will create their own theories just as you say.

Hire new actors where necessary and have a soft reboot to generate fan interest. Done.

the economic impact to the country from losing 3% of its population would be vastly worse than the impact of being locked down for a few months until the plague is contained.

What about the economic impact of being locked down two years or five years?

We won't have to be if we ever restore a sane, functioning government and institute sensible containment policies. A nationwide lockdown and mask mandate, uniformly enacted and effectively enforced, could get COVID under control in a couple of months. After that, a nationwide testing and tracking regimen could keep infected people quarantined while letting everyone else resume relatively normal lives. If this had been done six months ago, we'd already be mostly back to normal by now, like so many other countries already are. And the death toll would be a fraction of what it is now.

Disgusting lies. Europe is in the very beginning of a second wave that will be far worse than the first. Their wonderful lockdowns just delayed the inevitable. So far only Asian countries have been able to control the virus long term, and they're going it without lockdowns. (Or with military style lockdowns, which do work but cannot be done in democracies)

A certain dumbass here in the US is saying that the vaccine will be ready before the election on November 7th.

But in Asia, everybody wears their mask. And I mean everybody. Not most people, as here in Germany. EV-ER-Y-BO-DY.

I don't get why it's so hard for people to accept something so straightforward as that surgical masks, a thing specifically invented to protect against respiratory transmission of disease, are a good way to protect against respiratory transmission of disease. We might as well be arguing over whether a hat can keep your head warm.

They just absolutely cannot get over the fact that the cdc first said that the masks won't work, and now are saying they will. It's like they don't understand that these people are learning too...

Non-medical masks are a last line of defense--most guidelines state they should be used in a limited fashion when physical distancing is not possible. What scares me is that people treat them as a full on shield without realizing that everything has a degree of effectiveness. I use two to four throughout the day at my work place.
