Not every show needs to have a homosexual in it. It’s not like there’s a quota they need to follow
I wish you luck!But I want it!![]()
Not every show needs to have a heterosexual in it. It’s not like there’s a quota they need to follow
My inner nerd objects to Mariner's behavior less because it's obnooxious than because I don't think it would be tolerated by Starfleet.![]()
Even with her mother and father you'd think Admiral SEN-sors could take action, her behavior was off the scale this week.
Exactly! I wouldn’t demand those Russel T Davies shows to have heterosexuals in them. Not every show needs to have a heterosexual in it. It’s not like there’s a quota they need to follow

Ransom should know, as he’s supposed to know his crew. I supposed Hes as good as Kirk when it comes to learning about their families. One thing this episode showed us is it's not common knowledge that Mariner is Freeman's daughter. I mean, Ransom didn't even know.
Oh, come on, in 4 season of RTD's Dr. Who there were maybe two or three LGBTQ+ characters in itExactly! I wouldn’t demand those Russel T Davies shows to have heterosexuals in them.
That's the joke though. Rutherford having no personality and just being a cheerful engineer who likes to work is lampshading all of the characters like this - such as Geordi - in the past.
It seems like people are running out of things to hate so they’re looking in every crevice.
Rutherford led the B-stories in the first two episodes, this week it was Tendi's time (and would it have not been Tendi's time, we certainly would have the same complaints about her) and to be honest, right now, I know more about Rutherford than I knew about Worf until 'Heart of Glory'. In way less screentime.
I feel sometimes people forget how ensemble shows work
It's because he's a cyborg isn't it?Giving a character no personality is a terrible "joke", then. So far, he's completely useless and it certainly isn't in a "funny" way or in any way that can be considered deliberate.
The joke about "I like doing boring jobs" is already being handled by Boimler, and "enthusiasm" is being done by Tendi much better. So giving him the same traits already used by other characters is an incredible waste of a character.
So far, the character has no reason to exist. Almost no personality, point of view or comic engine beyond "nice guy." Awful.
The show's biggest weakness is that it goes too far with the incompetance because, yes, it's supposed to be the worst ship in the fleet but it's FUNNIER when someone like Ransom is actually incredibly AWESOME at his job in a ridiculous situation versus incredibly BAD at it.
Mariner is funniest when she's hyper competent and not when she's a toddler.
It applies to everyone really, including Boimler.
I wouldn’t say that was one of his shows. He was just The showrunner for the first 4 seasons.Oh, come on, in 4 season of RTD's Dr. Who there were maybe two or three LGBTQ+ characters in it
