Wow, how did I miss this whole freaking thread?! Amazing work here. Oh, @Viper, you may have picked up a like or ten this morning.
Funny you mention that. I kinda of dropped that old concept. I tried to make it work but it always felt clunky. I even tried radically different designs but nothing really felt right.
I wanted to work on something light...
...so I started building a freakin’ space station.

The Rapid Response/Recon version at scifi-meshes is quite lean. A good Stargazer alternative
Stunning work brother.
Sorry about RL...to put it lightly, it can get in the way... and not in a good way either. I have lost my job and been out of work for over 2yrs now. Still trying to keep up the good fight though. Stay well, and amazing update sir!
The Enterprise is a beautiful lady and we all love her! You’ve done her justice, Viper.
And p.s., glad to hear you’re still employed, even if it’s for a new client. I’ve had my own drama the past six months (haven’t we all!), so the need for a break is something I think we can all understand and sympathize with. LLAP!
p.s., Can you tell us anything about how you achieved the flares? The subtle rainbows are quite lovely.![]()
My render engine is Octane, or at least it was before I took my unscheduled break. And holy Great Bird of the Galaxy, you sure did bury the lede! This is a perfect example of how a great model like your Akula goes up to the next level when it's properly lit and rendered, with just the right amount of bloom coming off the hull to help "sell" the shot. Just lovely.
I don't know if it was intentional or accidental, but I love how the three floodlights illuminating that forward shuttlebay echo the three windows (deflectors? sensors?) on the bow of the TOS Enterprise.
Nice effort. It would work on screen.
Hey Viper is there an Andy Whorl avatar filter? I've seen quire a few here, yours included.
