Because Kirk showed humility and acknowledgment that he caused a problem he now has to fix.
Sisko helped to kill a Romulan senator and poisoned a planet, with nary a cross word from Starfleet.

None of which makes her a Mary Sue. Mary Sue is a loaded and sexist term.
He also wasn't an Ensign when we met him.Because Kirk showed humility and acknowledgment that he caused a problem he now has to fix.

At this point the Klingon poop humor is just what this show offers. It's not how I'd roll but the show looks right and feels right and so I don't mind a slightly off-color Star Trek comedy. It's not amazing Star Trek by any stretch but it's certainly nowhere near the cringe-inducing train wreck it could have been and I once feared.
And I have issues with that, and is the reason why I have problems with DS9.
She's far from perfect. She's very flawed. Awesome? Nah. Maybe in her own head. Great? Time will tell.It is, and I'm sorry for using it. But it just really seems like this show wants to present her as this perfect/awesome/great character who is always going to be right and make sure everyone around her knows it at all times.

She was more than willing to take a hit on her rep to help out Boilmer. So gotta disagree.
I love that Mariner was having dreams about Khan.![]()
Indeed. I fail to see Mariner as prefect-far from it. The fact that she hasn't faced consequences means jack shit. And arrogant? Holy shit! TNG had that in spades as did Kirk from time to time. Yeah, no way I can take this criticism seriously at this point. She's far from perfect. She's very flawed. Awesome? Nah. Maybe in her own head. Great? Time will tell.

Her behavior and antics caused him to feel that way on top of the entire way she treats him!
And? She knew she hurt him and was willing to play the fool to help him get his groove back. Her behavior and antics caused him to feel that way on top of the entire way she treats him!
Yeah, that's probably it.Maybe Boimler needs to put on his big boy pants then, and show that he’s capable of more than reciting the Starfleet manual.
