Not to mention that the wall angles would make them problematic as actual portholesWell, we never saw stars through them so they could just be alcoves or a view screen.
Are the nacelles of the Discoprise really only 153.8 metres long? The scale of the ship has been pretty well established at 480 metres (to match with the other, larger designs of the DSC aesthetic) so that doesn't seem right. Couple that with the visual inconsistencies (you mentioned the pylons, for instance) and what we are left with with is an onscreen graphic that is better off ignored altogether! IMOI just made a fun discovery. Star Trek Discovery, Season 2, Episode 1. When the Discovery comes upon the Enterprise, a graphic is displayed on screen. Part of it is obscured, but ALL of the data on it comes form the Heavy Cruiser stats from Franz Joseph's Star Fleet Technical Manual. The only two dimensions visible on screen (and hopefully readable if you can pause the right frame) are the nacelle length and diameter, but also visible are the tonnage, crew compliment, armament, max speed, endurance, launch year, constuction location. Also on that screen (but obscured by the crewman) are the overall length width and height, secondary length and diameter and saucer diameter, and that Pike took over in 2250 after April was in command for 5 years. The ship as pictures (which is very clear in the episode) is the original pre VFX version by John Eaves (before they angled the pylons).
So, it is canon in Dicovery that the nacelles are 153.6 meter long and 17.3 meters in diameter and thus scaling the ship to match TOS and the Enterprise Incident/TMOST drawing. That plus the TNG model wall makes it solid canon for me that the ship is 947 feet long. That is 3 different places we find the same length used. Though I don't consider Discovery Canon, that they used those numbers is significant.
That would be interesting to see if it holds up!I should make a 947 scale cross section of the Discovery Enterprise..... maybe....
I think the use quarters that Kodos used appears to have more rooms, like a suite. Maybe it was the regular quarters and "spilled out" into the briefing room?I have come up with two interesting sets. The Herbarium and a new VIP quarters. The Herbarium I drew from Jefferies sketch, but the size is bothering me. Anyone else figure out how big that circular section should be? And the guest quarters appears it might just be the briefing room with a smaller door. It is in And The Children Shall Lead and Is There In Truth No Beauty. I need to better research both of these. I think they might be the lasts sets I need (well, one I already have but am not happy with).
The guest quarters used by the children in ATCSL (where they first summon the Gorgon) was indeed a redress of the Briefing Room (that blue carpet is a dead giveaway). However, while Briefing Room does indeed have a smaller side door (used in the chapel redress) I don't think it was used in ATCSL, just the main alcove was visible.
Except that there are no tables in it.I thought that was just a briefing room and they were being held there temporarily as Harry Mudd was in "Mudd's Women."
Suntanning? Can you point me to images so I understand what is meant by this on an enclosed vessel?"Herbarium" in ATCSL with dry environment plants and flowers. "Conservatory" in ITITNB with lush bushes and plants. Is the "arboretum" meant to be two different rooms, or do they change the environment and re-plant to simulate the different weather seasons? If we go by Stardates, then over 1.3 years pass between the all the episodes. The unused sequence from EOT (Stardate ~4373) showed a woman suntanning. ATCSL (Stardate ~5030). ITITNB (Stardate ~5630).![]()
