Donny's Refit Enterprise Interiors (Version 2.0)

One thing I'd like to see Donny try, and I mentioned it a while back, is to do bridge variations of the USS Enterprise: NCC-1701 refit's sister ships (when they were refitted). I ran a few suggestions to him, commenting that "no two ships are exactly alike."
I would say its best to wait until all the sets are complete, and then their modular sections can be shifted around in any order afterward :P

I'm all for that. I enjoy the conversations, but don't always want to wade through them to get to the actual art and directly-related commentary.

This is an absolutely amazing thread! I can't stop combing over all of these renders. Donny, you have some amazing skills!

@Donny, this thread is amazing. I know I just said this back on Jul 16th, but I can't stop coming back and drooling over your renders. I really appreciate your willingness to share your skills.

As you can see by my "Newbie" status, I'm still too new to be able to send you a private message, but I have some very specific questions regarding parts of your Refit bridge renderings and I'm not sure how to get them to you. I don't feel comfortable flood this thread with my selfish questions. With this in mind, how should I communicate with you (here or somewhere else)?

Thanks for letting me bother you and thanks in advance -- James

I hate to disappoint anyone that was really looking forward to me returning to my TOS sets, but over the weekend I decided I should finish one of my unfinished sub-projects instead of starting a new one. Therefore, I'm returning to the TMP and TWOK sickbay set so I can check that re-master of a previous set I made in 2014 off my list. When we last left off, I had finished the TMP and TWOK versions of the sickbay examination room, so now I'm re-modeling the office/lab area. I don't have much done yet, just the basic architecture and the desk.

The shape of the desk support is completely conjecture. Haven't installed the glass yet. And I'm liking this very sterile TMP look.

Awesome. This is one area I always wondered about and wish we’d gotten a good look at in one of the feature films. It’s unfortunate that there isn’t an archive of “set” photos to reference, I mean complete and included the small areas we never got a good look at.

Is there a relationship between this desk and the one seen in Crusher's quarters in 1x03 The Naked Now and 1x07 Lonely Among Us?

A Starfleet Delta desk support? :)
I came up with it during my 2014 build and still likes the way it looks so I figured I'd keep it.

It's very possible. It's hard to get a good look at it in those episodes though, and it's just as unclear the exact shape in TMP or TWOK screencaps as well. Hmm...

Tell me about it ;)

Obviously I'm mixing TMP and TWOK details at this point in the build (as the label didn't appear until TWOK, and the panels were only lit in TMP), but here you can see I'm just adding a few details here and there before starting on the major detailing of the laboratory consoles in the room.

I'd love to know what these lit panels were supposed to be. I assumed they were meant to hold supplies or samples but not certain how they would even open. They can't open sideways but perhaps could slide downwards. They could be hinged at the top or bottom or even slide out like a drawer.

There are a lot of cool shapes all over the sets but I never quite understood their function. Clearly if the Phase II series had been made we would have seen these details in use but these sets were barely seen in the films.

Some sort of opaque force field perhaps, for secure storage? (problematic if the power goes out).

I see these (and the ones in the examination room) as storage units for medicines, samples, and other supplies. It doesn’t really make sense to have them in an office per se, but since the opposite office wall and the foyer of the office also serve as the CMO’s private medical laboratory, the storage unit’s inclusion here does make sense.

In TMP, the ones in the examination room are indeed meant to be storage units, as you can see different colored transparent vials and cylinders inside the units and possibly containing various colored liquids. I’ve replicated those colored vials in my exam room build, but I don’t think I’ve posted a shot yet. I’ll do so shortly.

[EDIT]
