But again those are not names the average member of the primary (Anglophone) audience would immediately recognize as ordinary. Barnes, just like Sarah, however is.

5/10 is awfully high for something you didn't like.

I feel if I were less intelligent it might have appealed to me more.

Maybe if I had the mental capacity of an 8 year old I might have found the desire to ever contemplate watching another.

From everything I have read in Western animation dialogue is usually, recorded before the animation is done (which is why lip movements in Western animation typically match the dialogue, whereas in Anime, where the animation is done before the recording, the characters just "flap" their mouths)
My theory was that they just chose a trill character model from already existing character models.
That's for example why the actors in Bob's Burgers are able to improvise during recording, or why cut scenes from Western animation usually have all the dialogue, but only have storyboards/very rough animation.

Sorry, I goofed. In an animated TV series, you will most often use the initial voice recording as a basis for the animatic. Plenty of opportunity for actor improv in those first sessions.

However, there's no real point when the "animation is done." It's a long process and there are usually several recording sessions. At times, an actor make come in for a session and record pieces of multiple episodes at a time.

Lots or recording is done, things are changed and often a final record is done to better match the final animated product.

All this is to say, it's highly unlikely that you would have a sent-in-stone version of the record and only then decide to change the appearance (in this case, race) of a character radically and not have the opportunity to change the dialogue to reflect it.

Designs are often done before the scripts are even complete, as the entire machinery of the show needs to be moving forward. So you'd already know the character was a trill long before your actors took to the mic.

My wife liked it as well, however maybe its my age, my upbringing, my preference, my lifestyle or whatever, but I did give it a watch before I gave my opinion.

I can understand not liking the show, I'm not exactly the #1 fan of either Discovery or Picard. What I object to is you acting like you're high up on the mountain looking down at us simple folks. I imagine most folks who like it and dislike it are within throwing range of each other where intellect is concerned.

If I have hurt you feelings then I apologize. I am glad you enjoyed the show, I had hoped I might had enjoyed it, even if it was a childish cartoon, and was even willing to overlook that, but it was rubbish.

Really? You're the one that put yourself up on the mountain, no one made you make the '8 year old' comment. You're the one that made the 'if I were less intelligent' comment. You knew you were slamming people who liked it with those comments. If you didn't know, then you aren't as intelligent as you think you are.

My dream is just a room with a tank full of dolphins in uniforms swimming around being dolphins. They don't do anything other than what a dolphin already does, but they have ranks from inexplicable reasons.
