If you're referring to the display Rios uses, that isn't LCARS.I was referring the the 3D holographic version.
They look generic, like every other scifi show.
I don't either and I think they work well inside the world. Seeing them in action in that reel was nice.If you're referring to the display Rios uses, that isn't LCARS.
I also don't think it's generic.

The horror...exactly. They have distilled Star Trek to be like any other sci fi show in story and technology. Now every Star Trek has to have dark storylines and flawed characters. Actually the characters are more flawed then done humans today. The tech itself looks terrible as well as the bridge design. The bridge that riker was on looks like any other sci fi cheap looking space set.
And I want them in my life. Give me as many as possible.Oh please, these floating touch n swipe interfaces are almost all interchangable.
exactly. They have distilled Star Trek to be like any other sci fi show in story and technology, which is a good thing. Now every Star Trek has to have dark storylines and flawed characters, which is awesome. Actually the characters are more flawed then done humans today, an excellent plot point. The tech itself looks fantastic as well as the bridge design. The bridge that riker was on looks like other sci fi expensive looking space sets.
Show me a Star Trek without flawed characters, please. Kirk is deeply flawed and acknowledges such in TOS from time to time. His mistake in "Space Seed" ends up killing people in TWOK and yet he is never treated poorly for it. Or even his remarks in TUC, probably the most "of its time" of the Trek films, yet Kirk is not treated lesser. Now every Star Trek has to have dark storylines and flawed characters.
How so? Please provide examples of this exact thing that you speak of. Because, I think that many would love to have people like Burnham or Picard acknowledging their mistakes and being willing to make changes and amends.Actually the characters are more flawed then done humans today.
Even if I thought this was so (I don't but I'll play along) how is this bad? I recall growing up and being mocked and teased for liking Trek and science fiction in general. I remember that science-fiction/fantasy had their own little section of book stores and libraries and movie sections that were treated like barely worth the shelf-space. Star Trek is no longer the only game and town and I think that's a good thing. People can like Star Trek, were T-Shirts and celebrate this franchise in a way that wasn't the case a decade ago. Technology has surged past what Trek could only dream of. Why not celebrate that instead of worrying that Trek isn't "special anymore?" Trek struggled to stay on TV and now has new lease on life. And that's bad? They have distilled Star Trek to be like any other sci fi show in story and technology.
They're really not. Each production has their own unique interface design.Oh please, these floating touch n swipe interfaces are almost all interchangable.
I've seen plenty, thanks. The differences are typically in the particulars rather than in kind. They're largely like the haptic versions of the pictures in glass model of smartphones.
And they're dumb.

I am. I love it.Imagine having large vehicles like jets with holo buttons and displays.
Maybe they are; maybe they are not. It's personal preference and people get use to new tech all the time. How are these superior to the flat paneled displays that tng had? How is this an advancement?
Actually the characters are more flawed then done humans today.
I liked the holographic LCARS display in the scene where Picard saw himself als Locutus. It looked like a modernized LCARS version. I'd use them for relaying information only. To make it more realistic I would make them opaque on the readers side, so he or she can actually read it without seeing everything behind it, and see through from the other side.
As for ship controls I would show them as real solid console that manifest infront or around of the Pilot when he sits down. The touchpads would be solid like the old consoles and I only would have floating readouts or status indicators.
agreed they are good and practical. Imagine having large vehicles like jets with holo buttons and displays. It’s totally practical and it’s not distracting whatsoever. So they are see through so you can have them in front of your face while in a battle and waving your hands in front of your face while moving the displays around. These are totally superior to the flat paneled displays that tng had. This is an advancement.
