Season 3 Finally Lands October 15

It's about time. That probably means the last week in September I can rewatch the series leading up to the premiere.

I wonder if they will have new All Access Trek compete against the Nickelodeon show when it comes out, or if that is off-limits.

And don't forget, we already had 10 weeks of Picard this year totaling 33 weeks. For me this almost makes staying subscribed all year worth the money. If they can hit 44 out of 52 I'll stay subscribed all year.
I don't think it'll happen until at least the '21-'22 Season. That year, we should be getting:

Discovery S4
Picard S2
Lower Decks S2
Strange New Worlds S1
Short Treks

So, all thirteen episodes are airing without a break? In other word, it'll go from October 15 to January 7? Kind if surprised by that, I thought for sure they would take a break after episode 7 airs at the end of November then air the remaining six episodes starting in January 2021 so they can still have their January (mid)season premiere event, which has been a tradition ever since 2018.

Now, how about a new trailer?

I'm happy to hear this...but what the hell is wrong with CBS that they couldn't announce this four days ago for the Trek panel???

Seriously, seriously bad planning on their part.

Edit: Maybe this is a response to SDCC being panned as a "no news" event? Maybe their original plans were to keep this under wraps until September to build buzz, but they felt like they had to move it forward when the panel was considered so underwhelming?

I’m surprised they aren’t holding it over until 2021, since next year is probably going to be a drought of new Trek. Maybe even a drought lasting into 2022, depending on if they’ll be able to film anything before then.

Since DSC and SNW are shooting in Canada, their shoots won't be anywhere near as impacted by Covid-19 as Picard would be. I think they should just move shooting for PIC over there (at least for the season) as well.

Yay! Sounds like we'll be going straight from Lower Decks into Disco. Potentially 23 weeks straight of Star Trek!

This makes me far happier than I’d like to admit.

Genuine question: why on Earth would they do that?

Absolutely NOTHING is gained from such a situation. Not that you can really have them compete, anyway, when one is airing on a television network, and the rest drops on a streaming service.

I hope this is right but I’m still not so sure.

They’ll have to fly all the crews out to location, then probably quarantine each of them for 14 days prior to actually filming. Any stars who are residents of the US might have trouble entering Canada...maybe? I’m not sure what the current travel/borders situation is but I thought I read Canada isn’t allowing American travelers at the moment.

This is all still being risky, as the virus is still in Canada even if it’s not as bleak as the US right now. And it’ll be impossible to distance the actors or have them wear masks obviously. I just don’t know how it would work until there’s a vaccine available for everyone.

So happy to hear this! Something to look forward to as the days start getting shorter and colder. Bring it on!

I wouldn’t bank on anything at this point, we could see a second wave that pushes things back.

And so it begins. its great we finally have a release date, I am just dreading another disappointing story telling season like season 2.

Well, unlike Season 2 there was no shift in showrunners part-way through, so they also won't have to shift gears part-way through to avoid having to pay whoever left for their ideas being used after they were fired. So the problems that went on last season won't happen this season. The situations are apples and oranges.

This season for good or ill, right or wrong, is all on Michelle Paradise from start to finish.

Because the lack of new Trek on All Access would cause people to unsubscribe? At the same time, would CBS want to burn off two Trek shows at once? Maybe they figure the demos are different enough it won’t matter, but I’ll be kinda surprised if there are two new Trek shows airing simultaneously. Been a long time since we saw that.
