Riker’s ships from PICARD should include these
I mean, two designs making up a fleet is better than copy paste class lol
Quite like this render.
Thanks!
Thanks for showing the old sketches & doodles - there're some intriguing shapes and details going on.
I love the Inceptor's nacelles! However, in the profile view, they look a little on the large side for such a sleek ship - but they look great in the front & rear three quarter views, though. The truncated triangle deflector and impulse engine are nice matching features for front and rear.
What can I say, I like big ample nacelles lol. Plus I'm intending this ship to hold the first successful transwarp drive, so take that as you will.
As far as details go, I love that slight nudge between the neck- and bridge area and the rest of the saucer. It flows so naturally! I remember I had a phase with that kind of bussard collector as well, loving the style. Less sure about the scale of the whole nacelle versus the rest of the ship though. It gives off a Vengeance vibe which I'm not entirely sure about...
I should make it no secret I love the Kelvin timeline ships!
The Interceptor is amazing! Looks like what your Sovereign class would be, compared to your Galaxy class. You know what I mean?
Thanks! I do get what you mean actually. That reminds me I should do the Sovereign class sometime...

Some detail work on the Saladin. I think I'm driving myself crazy with overthinking while I model, but somehow I manage

Transwarp?!

How many engineers have wasted their careers chasing that old boondoggle?! Take my advice: stick to the classics.

Just like "Quadrant" the word has multiple meanings. Like with the Excelsior, the "Transwarp Drive" was just another word for the faster next-generation Warp Drive. Even the displays for the Enterprise-A had "transwarp" all over the place, implying that the experiment the Excelsior started was filtered out to all the new vessels that followed.

... but then, we can all thank Voyager for taking every half decent concept and running it into the ground

It wasn't Next Gen? I think fans wondering why they weren't saying Transwarp was what killed that particular notion. That, or the Ent-D technical manual.

Next Gen referred to it as "Quadrant of the Galaxy" not just "Quadrant" unless it was in context of the conversation. But throughout Voyager, no matter the context (referring to "Eye of the Needle" and "Shattered"), Delta Quadrant automatically meant quadrant of the galaxy, not quadrant in the way TOS or TOS movies referred to them. Even just saying Delta Qu- was enough for Past Janeway to go "did he say Delta QUADRANT?" as if it automatically meant galaxy, even though there was zero context behind it beforehand.

They weren't saying Transwarp in TNG because TNG was in production before the notion was really fleshed out. In fact, TNG season 1 would stomp all over established canon, especially when it comes to details. I figure they just CALLED it Warp because it was such an established troupe of Star Trek, and the warp scale was scaled back to accommodate it. Otherwise, why could the Enterprise-D's maximum warp be slower than the TOS Enterprise or a piddly Bird-of-Prey could reach a century earlier? ... hmm, TNG also seemed to forget that traveling too fast created a time warp ("Where No One Has Gone Before" vs. numerous TOS episodes AND Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home), and that was even from the first decent episode of TNG.

^^Haha this is one reason I started this Trek reboot project. Aside from updating the visuals, I can fix continuity issues and remove/add story elements I like and don't like. Is is an unnecessary pastime? Yes. Will it ever go anywhere besides thinking about and visualizing what could have been and what could be? Probably not. Do I care? Nope.

That is the whole point of fan projects. They are for no purpose other than one's own enjoyment, and the hopes that others will enjoy it as well. In the end, that is all that really matters. Do it because you love it ^_^

^Yup!^

I've been a little stuck lately as far as new ideas go, but in the meantime I decided to spruce up all my existing concept models to make them a little more presentable. I added windows and decals, and also messed with the proportions and scale of the Shepard to make it closer to the original. I guess it proves the usefulness of these models as being easy to tweak, so I can really nail down what I want.

The Saladin and Gagarin are beautiful additions to the TOS stylings and feel very Technical Manual. The Discovery still is ugly. But, you gave it your best shot

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes yes yes. Yes!

(ETA: if you feel so moved, I’d love to see more of your interpretation of the Discovery.)
Thanks! I actually did a mockup of a scene from Discovery in my Connie thread https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/yes-another-tos-constitution-reboot.255106/page-4. I guess I should have put it here though, oh well.

Well we can't all be beautiful!

On another note I guess I can swallow my words since I started on some more stuff. First my Seeker design from earlier in this thread:

And also the Enterprise J. For this one I'm trying to give it a sort of Origami look. Overall I want it to be otherworldly. A rough idea:
