Lower Decks Trailer Analysis

Rick and Morty is about horrible people. I have no desire to watch a Star Trek series about horrible people.
Many of the Ricks and some of the Mortys are bad people, but who's horrible?

The guy getting caught naked at the ops or conn station(?) may have been one of the only real laughs of the entire trailer but I did laugh at it.
Must be the oops station.

apparently heart transplants are just done out in the open with the transplanted organ just thrust into some random persons' hands.
it's called "emergency".

The fonts seem inconsistently displayed. I see Eurostile in several places where it ought to be Millennium/Starfleet Bold Extended or Eurostile Bold Extended...and Helvetica UCE is not in all the spots it ought to be.
Where exactly?

You're not allowed your own opinion! Believe and feel what everyone else does or suffer the consequences!
The draconian consequences of reading posts in a forum!

Except Trip. Anyone who doesn't get excited over pecan pie the way Trip does is not a human being.

Just watched the trailer, looks like fun, for fans who don't want 'fun' in their Star trek there are plenty of 'serious' old episodes to rewatch, but avoid the tribble ones.

NO ONE IS FUCKING SAY THEY DON'T WANT FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why are you raining on the parades of people who want to have fun? Let people enjoy what they like. Life is hard and dark for people right now. Let people who want to embrace a little levity do so. Watch it with a beer or two and you might even like it and if anyone gets any enjoyment out of it that seems good enough.

Thanks to the new Canadian trailer, Tim Thomason, and Tuskin38, we now know a lot more:

The Cerritos' registry is NCC-75567, it has VOY computer sounds and classic LCARS interfaces, one of the lower decks tasks is turbolift lubing :D, the bridge layout and OPS and CONN stations are similar to the D, one of the lower deck guys apparently kills a room full of Borg (training simulation?), the ship has ARGO cars, they go to Little Kronos, they have a Bolian and an Andorian on the ship, we see Romulans with redacted eyes (news report?), a starbase and a Klingon BoP appear at the end.

A couple more on-topic notes:
- Is that a Napean on the bridge? I thought it was a Cardassian at first, but it's lacking detail that would paint it at such. A lot more humans than I would prefer.
- There is a third chair, so are we going to have a Counselor on the crew? Or is that just for whomever the Captain decides can sit next to her?
-Who is the bald Lt. Cdr. that is friends with Ransom (the XO)? He's command branch, so that eliminates alot of possibilities. The Flight Controller seems to be a tired Ensign (although, yeah, maybe that's the relief and LTC is the primary), but helm seems unlikely a place for such a high rank (TOS movies notwithstanding). My guess: he's the second officer with ambiguous duties (maybe assists the XO in commanding the lower deckers). Also, since he's not in any promotional material outside of the trailer, he probably doesn't survive the first episode. Not because of Tendi's "heart surgery", mind you, just something to do with the possession/invasion going on in that ep. If he's second officer, maybe that third chair is for him (and will be vacant for awhile after his death).
- I wonder why the Romulans have black bars over their eyes? My guess: It's in-universe security footage and Ninja Tendi is getting in trouble for beating them up.
- Boimler is visiting Little Qo'noS (probably a Klingon exclave on some multicultural planet) while wearing a dress uniform, and is later seen in a bar fight with that same uniform, probably in the same adventure.

Michael's issue was that she was a flawed human being, and made questionable, immoral decisions unlike the great Captains Archer, Pike, Kirk, Picard, SIsko and Janeway....Right?
No, just that the character is shittily written.

If "funny" means "actually makes me laugn," it wasn't funny. Looks stupid and loud. I would welcome funny.

Orville is "funny" for me. From the (albeit limited) trailer, this does seem geared more towards young audiences who like "loud". I'll give it a watch when I reactivate my subscription for DSC S3, whenever that happens.

I'm ranting at the show not looking enjoyable to me. If you think it looks like a laugh riot more power to you.

What I'm more ranting at is the legions of people who think that just because I don't like broad antics and misfit humor that looks/feels out of place that must mean I want Trek to be stiff and stodgy and don't know how to have fun.

The only problem with this post is that I could only give it a like once.

Yes, we get it. You know how to have fun. I'm tired of Covid-19 and Trump and everything else. This is a nice diversion for people like me and others. Please, for the love of God, let us have this. We get it. You don't like it. It's not your tastes. We're not trying to repress you. Just calm down, take a chill pill, stop raining on people's parade. And, yes, that's what you're doing right now.

How would you react if someone was behaving like you are here in an Orville thread? The truth. Think about it for a minute. That's how you're coming across here. Especially when you type in all capitals. You're typing in all capitals over a cartoon. Let me repeat that: You're typing in all capitals over a cartoon.

I have to be honest.....this isn't something that immediately appeals to me, either. I like "Serious Trek" myself...
so I'm guilty as charged on that front. And, I'm not a huge fan of animated anything (I'm a Star Wars fan, and I haven't watched more than 10-12 episodes of whatever shows that they have available in animation....seems like a lot though).

But, all that said....

1. It's a cartoon. I really don't care if I like it or not. It's not the end of the world (or even close) if it doesn't appeal to me. I don't care one way or another. It's only a "plus" if it pleasantly surprises me, and there is zero way it is a "minus" if it doesn't.
2. I will absolutely watch it and support it when it comes out, because I don't want my own pre-conceived notions to hamper my potential enjoyment of something. I really wasn't overly excited about Klingon War being the arc DSC was going to follow, but I buried my biases and watched the first few episodes and ended up really liking it in spite of how I thought I would feel. I feel like that's a good template to follow. It is amazing how things sometimes work out if you keep irrational emotions in check.
3. Life is too short. I don't know why I'd want to risk heart failure by losing my mind over something like this. As with all things, if it ends up being cute and funny I'll be pleasantly surprised and have a lot of fun. If not, I simply won't watch....and I still have 800 hours of other Star Trek material (and more coming) to hold my interests. There's literally no risk or any other reason to have any negative emotion over this show whatsoever. I can't understand (sorry...) any other viewpoint. It just makes no sense. We have absolutely nothing to lose. They're not going to force you to sit down and watch like the guy in Clockwork Orange if you think LD is going to be Pakled Poop.

So everyone should relax. There is no risk of the guy below being you.
