Lower Decks Trailer Analysis

I think going to R&M for their showrunner was a really smart move since that is one of the best, and smartest sci-fi comedies ever.
While his job experience from working on R&M might have been one factor, I think a major factor is likely what he did with his TNG Season 8 twitter and his book based off it

A. Our leads are ungrateful
B. Everyone is disdainful towards others
C. The crew play around with dangerous weapons
D. They care more about their position than the lives of their crew mates
E. They come off as passive in uncertain situations

These are horrible people.

You just saw a 2.5 minute long trailer with hand picked scenes. They're ass missing context and subtext. We also don't know what episodes all these scenes are from, the characters could grow by the end of the season.

Is this what I can look forward to for each episode? It's a 2 minute trailer to whet the appetite and to advertise the show. I'm a little worried in that when this show was first announced, people already made their opinions and they were mostly negative. In society, it's hard these days to keep an open mind or to change an opinion based on something. Does this mean that each week we're going to get more of this where I and many people want to talk about the show and the thread turns into why the series sucks? I don't think even Discovery or Picard has this kind of treatment, even though I admit there is some.

I'm not sure if I will like this series or not. All I know is it is different and I'm keeping an open mind and I had fun watching that trailer today. I'm looking forward to the series, but if I can't talk about it because people are ignoring the series and talking with the naysayers, then that's going to make for some bad 8 weeks. I hope that isn't the case.

Many of the different clips appear to be from one episode. There are numerous shots of "infected" crew members who are white, with fangs, and covered with black sludge. In one of them, Boimler has pink goo on him and is only wearing shorts. This appears to be the same pink goo he has on him when that giant insectoid is trying to eat him, which in turn looks very similar to that tiny insectioid we see.

I don't know where this bbs would be without some of you guys.

I really don't.

I could set my watch to some of you lads.

But then we'd have no reason to be mad. Then where would we be?!
Don't worry, fans can manufacture rage out of anything. If Michael hadn't saved Mirror Georgiou, we'd likely be hearing this from the Peanut Gallery:
"Ermagahd, I don't care of she was Cannibalistic Space Hitler, Michael had no right leaving Emperor Georgiou to die like that! Humans of Star Trek are supposed to be advanced and enlightened, they don't leave people to die just because they're evil. Rescue everyone! That's Gene's Vision. Imagine if Michael took Georgiou back to the Prime Universe and gave her a chance redeem herself? That's the message of Star Trek. I'm so through with this inferior knock-off pretending to be Star Trek."

And then they keep watching and bitching anyway.

R&M is terrible, so this show is pretty much exactly what I expected when I heard the R&M people were involved.
Wow, I think this is the first time I've ever heard someone call R&M terrible. I guess this is just another example of how drastically different people's tastes can be.

You did hear it's a comedy right? You've seen comedies before, right? People doing funny goofy things, sometimes in a work environment. I've heard actual police officers describe Brooklyn 99 as the most realistic cop show they've seen. It's a comedy with Adults doing silly goofy things because thats what real people do sometimes. SHOCKING!!!!!
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a whole lot of goofy, silly stuff going on during the down time on Starfleet ships as they are spending, who knows how long traveling through space with nothing to do between planets, and anomalies, and ships in distress.

Oh right, I forgot about that.

It's not all fencing and reading longhair philosophers

Yup. People do strange things when bored.
