I DIDN'T SAY NO COMEDY!!!
Just that THIS type of comedy is too far.
For me.
If you like it, fine, go stroke to it.
But for me its too much and doesn't fit. Heaven forbid I should have my ow giddamn opinion that doesn't immediately love everything just because "Star Trek" is attached to it.
It's from one of the main writers of Rick & Morty, so what exactly were you expecting? The moment Mike McMahan was announced as showrunner, I knew exactly what to expect, and that is exactly what we got in the trailer.
I think going to R&M for their showrunner was a really smart move since that is one of the best, and smartest sci-fi comedies ever.
As for the trailer itself, I loved it, it just looks like a lot of silly, goofy fun. For a long time now, I've wanted a full on comedic Trek series, and based off of the trailer looks like it's going to be exactly what I was wanting.
It's a parody. It's technically weird that the official brand would do parody as part of its bread and butter, but from what I've seen it doesn't not work and I chuckled a few times...
It's not a parody, it's a comedy set in the Star Trek universe. And yes, there is a difference, a parody is basically making fun of something, but this is not making fun of Star Trek, this is finding humor in the situations people in the Star Trek universe find themselves in. So it's more Trouble with Tribbles, or In the Cards, than Galaxy Quest.
My favorite parts of the trailer were the Captain's Log gag, the holodeck waste bit, and the last part with the phaser.
I wasn't quite sure what the expect visually, and I was a little surprised they stuck as close to the TNG-Voyager visual style as they did. It all made a bit nostalgic, after Discovery and Picard went in their own different directions with things.
