At this rate, Zahn will be writing books about Thrawn in preschool before we get anything with him post Rebels. Even as a big fan of the character, and Zahn, its becoming kind of sad. If only they hadn't tied Thrawn's fate with the fate of Filoni's OC :sigh: I'd even take him just being confirmed dead. It would be a shitty fate, and nowhere near as good as his original death, but at least I would no longer be hoping in vain for an actually important or interesting story about Thrawn getting made.

Basically, they need to either let someone else continue Thrawn's story, or stop leaving fans hanging for something that will probably never happen because Filoni is off fucking around with live action. Every one of these Thrawn books (even the good ones) just remind me of how much it sucks that Filoni is the only one who gets to decide if Thrawn gets used. Just let Thrawn come back, be a post-Rebels book villain for a bit and then inevitably kill him off in a way that justifies him never being mentioned in the later movies.

"Now, L'il Thrawn, I told you to share the toys with the other kids."
"I do not see the strategic value in such action."

He isn't actually. Zahn just doesn't want to step on his toes. He never said he was forbidden from writing more Thrawn post-Rebels. I mean, LucasFilm has to ask him true.

There's nothing stopping anyone from picking Thrawn up post-Rebels (unless there's already an unannounced story in the works dealing with him)

I started reading the first collection of the first Dr. Aphra comic series. I really liked her in the Darth Vader comic, so I've been curious to check out her solo series since I first heard about it.

StarWars.com has posted their recap for the Lucasfilm Publishing panel, where we did get some cool new reveals.
I can't remember if we heard about it before, but one of the books talked about was The Lightsaber Collection, which will "give us a wide-ranging look at the evolution of the elegant weapon". It's going to give us new illustrations of both the sabers, and their weilders.
We're also going to be getting a new Star Wars: Adventures Vader's Caslte one shot, Shadow of Vader's Castle. The core Star Wars adventures series will also be releaunching "new stories, in new time eras, with new creators".
They are also going to be doing an in-universe version of Myths & Fables, which will include 6 new stories by original author George Mann.
They are doing an Art of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge book.
The Higher Republic: A Test of Courage will focus on Avon Starros, a 12 year old ancestor of the comic book character Sana Starros aka Mrs. Han Solo.
Preeti Chibber is writing a children's book called A Jedi You Will Be, which appears to focus on Yoda training Luke on Daghobah.
The new Darth Vader comic series will feature some sort of tie in to The Rise of Skywalker.
Tom Angelberger's The Empire Strikes Back From a Certain Point of View story will feature the Whills.
The you Poe novel, Poe Dameron: Free Fall will feature Zorii Wynn and Babu Frik.
The new Aphra series will be accessible to new readers, but still pay off for long time fans. It will also introduce a new crew for Aphra, "including a disgraced professor, a vicious grad student, and a classic, dashingly handsome rogue."
Timothy Zahn's new novel, Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rise will be a deep dive into the Chiss.

I also just finished reading the first collection of the first Aphra series, which I really enjoyed. It was nice to get to see a lot more of Aphra's backstory, and meeting her father was especially fun. The stuff with the Ordu Aspectu was also a nice bit of new history for the Jedi.

Wow, that is quite the deep dive on the old EU there.

Yeah they've done that a few times, taking obscure things that even people familiar with the EU wouldn't even know about.

That's not even the most obscure one in the franchise to date.

Yeah, I'd hate to see them get throw eight of the Skywalker Saga movies, and then stop before the ninth.

It took over 20 years to get an adaptation of Star Trek II The wrath of Khan. Marvel had the rights to adapt the first movie, and then DC didn't get the Star Trek license until after Star Trek II it already hit theaters. It wasn't until IDW got the rights that the entire story was finally completed in comics form.

I don't see Star Wars' comics rights going anywhere. Unless Marvel goes under. Which is doubtful even if they are having issues.

I think as long as they're having issues they'll be okay.

    Sorry, I'll see myself out:ouch:
