I'm pretty sure season 3 will be...

Given the productions coming to a halt due to the pandemic, CBSAA doesn't have much new content coming down the pipeline. No new content, folks drift away and their revenue stream decreases. They are going to delay the release as long as they practically can, then release it weekly in order to keep viewers from bailing on their subscription. The tricky part is how long of a delay is too long? I suspect we'll see new Trek episodes by September at the latest. Say, 3-4 months after Picard's end.

I have no inside knowledge, but if I were CBS, and I was timing a Trek series premier to coincide with the relaunch of CBS All Access, it would be Lower Decks, not Discovery Season 3.

The basic reasoning is as a new series, Lower Decks is going to make a lot greater splash in the press than more Discovery - which to some degree is a known quantity.

By the same logic, Disco has an established audience that will be guaranteed to return and has already been one of the flagship shows of the old All Access, making release of the new season of it a logical way to tie in with AA's relaunch.

Also, I don't think Lower Decks is going to be anywhere near as high profile as any of the live action Trek series.

I’m discouraged of the hopes of any new content coming any time soon. My wife and I subscribe to CBS all access, but there’s nothing new to watch. Even. Blue Bloods has stopped, at least the last time we checked.

You may have noticed the world is currently in the middle of a pandemic which has shut down production of almost all TV shows. That might be why CBSAA doesn't have any new content at the moment. Just a thought.

It does provide a nice time to catch up on things you've missed. I'm currently watching Agents of Shield and really enjoying it. There's so much out there that it's a decent way to pass these alone times.

We’re watching The Walking Dead on Netflix. Haven’t heard of Agents of Sheild.

We’ll check it out. My wife has heard about it.
it might be worth your time to watch The Avengers first, if you haven't already seen it.

Also bear in mind that the first season is extremely uneven. The first half of the season is nothing special. About halfway through the first season, they start building up to a climax that hits about three-quarters of the way through the season. The show never looks back from there.

But, on the bright side: with the 32nd Century, at least it'll be a different type of divisive this time.
I don't know, I suspect we're still going to get a shitload of sidewalk preachers crying out to the heavens about Gene's Vision being abandoned, just like we've been getting with Picard. We'll just have abandoned all the "this doesn't fit with canon/continuity" complaints which plagued Disco discussions for the first two seasons, though I wouldn't put it past some fans to find a way to make those complaints irregardless.

If we are gonna see a 700+ year jump its gonna take a lot of imagination to pull off a Trek future but the ads so far make 32nd century look an awful lot like the 24th
