Also, WHO guidelines state the following: "If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with COVID-19."

Yes, but since then many national and local health authorities are now recommending wearing face coverings for everyone when you are out in public. And some municipalities even require it, such as where @cooleddie74 lives. Hence the negative reactions from people who don't like the idea of being required to wear a mask.

Can't imagine why...

Also, some bad news from S. Korea

Coronavirus: South Korea closes schools again after biggest spike in weeks

...only a few days after it reopened them

At least one California county had the same problem (re-closed). The government is soft letting all the complainers make their decisions.

I had to get a 2 month continuation to work-from-home from my doctor since Illinois has gone to Phase 3, and Chicago is close behind. No f-ing way I'm taking a chance sitting in the same "office" with seven or eight other people.

You know... since the LEDs are controlled by a phone, if you had some Siri-type app that listened to your speech, and then output what you said as words on the front of the mask, that could help alleviate the issue that the deaf and hearing-impaired community is having with being unable to read lips when someone is wearing a mask.

OK, I know the masks with the clear inset are simpler, and probably cheaper. (And can you even wash an LED mask?) But I had never seen these LED masks before, and I thought it was an interesting idea. :)

I like the idea and am hoping we see some innovation like that.

That's a brilliant idea! Seems like it would be relatively inexpensive to implement too, and could help a lot of people.

Well, it appears that Premier Ford of Ontario, who was originally against regional openings is now in favour of such a thing. Being that Ontario is a large province, with most of the cases being concentrated further south, some areas such as mine in Northern Ontario have not reported any new cases in at least 2-3 weeks and might be selected to re-open, but it doesn't mean we can be lax in our prevention. The province so far in a post-peak stage and needs to be careful about not having a resurgence. So far my region has been pretty careful and I'd like to see it stay like that.

I don't know about everywhere else in TrekBBSland, but it seems to me that folks are forgetting that we're still knee deep in this pandemic. Our local daily case rate has doubled in less than 2 weeks. Everyone seems to be going back to 'normal' behavior. I go to the store and very few are wearing masks; I seem to be in the vast minority. Frustrates me to no end because I'm 55, in the demographic that is at higher risk. Come on people, wake up!

Thought I'd share this, the website of the German newspaper Berliner Morgenpost has a map with statistics updated on a daily basis (last update was today at 6.00 pm mid-European time).
It's in German, so I'll point out the color code; red indicates the number of overall confirmed cases, green indicates the number of confirmed recoveries, gray indicates the number of confirmed deaths.

At first, the sidebar should give the numbers for Germany, you can switch to Europe (Europa) or worldwide (weltweit).
When you move the cursor over the circles on the different countries and regions, you'll find the numbers for those areas, including the numbers per 100,000 residents. The German map has the circles broken by region, where possible, the worldwide map has them by country.
