News Coronavirus Pandemic Information and Support Group

Same here! I'm very grateful we have this available to us. Although it obviously doesn't protect you against colds, it's been great to be able to avoid the flu when it's been going around. Unless you were allergic to the vaccine, I don't know why any Ontarian wouldn't take advantage of this opportunity.

Especially now. I'd like to think that the world has become a little more aware of the consequences of all these germs being spread around. It never hurts to be a little more careful as one never knows who or what one may come in contact with.

Today I got my third booster shot (the 'bivalent' version) and as I was taking a look at my vaccination card, it hit me:

What's going to happen when we get so many stamps on the back of our cards (from all the various boosters) that we run out of room? I mean, I guess we'll just get a second card, but where do we do that?
They'll probably just issue you another card. When my provider filled in the slots for the first two shots, they didn't have any room on the front of the card. The first booster went on a second card they told me I could just get rid of the first card. I didn't as there was nothing to indicate the booster was a booster. I scanned both cards and then just printed the fronts of the two cards back to back.

Getting my booster at the end of this week. I think I may have residual mental fog from the hit I took. Either that, or the smoke in the area isn’t helping me…

I just learned the FDA granted another three-month shelf-life extension to the iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Tests.

Link to iHealth website where you can enter the lot number to see what the new expiration date is.

Started feeling run down on Monday with a bit of sore throat. Yesterday had the usual cold symptoms but I took a covid test just to be on the safe side and it came back negative, but I called out sick anyway. Took another test this morning before going into work and there it was, bright as day, a positive result, so I'm out for the rest of the week and right before Thanksgiving. What sucks is that I've had the vaccine and I'm double boosted and still caught it, even with wearing a mask at work and while shopping.

same here, but the vaccine is not for not getting this shit - it's for not getting a wooden suit

get well

Sorry to hear that, @DarrenTR1970 . Hope you're feeling better soon.

Some of the newer variants that are starting to become more dominant are apparently a lot more immune-evasive that previous variants. It sounds like it has the potential to be a rough winter. Even without a huge COVID surge, our hospitals here are already being critically overwhelmed with the current levels of COVID, RSV, and the flu. Surgeries are being cancelled again, and emergency rooms are just simply... closing.

Even though indoor masking is "highly recommended" once again, the government has apparently no political will to actually impose a mandate again. Nor provide permanent guaranteed sick days. Nor increase health funding. Nor anything to help, really. (But at least they're going full tilt on opening the Greenbelt for development, so... thanks? :brickwall:)
