Spoilers Batwoman - Season 1

But with 10 story seasons, and there's still plenty of filler in these shorter seasons, I'd guess they could change things? How do they do things in show production? Is it really so simple as to say "we make the schedules less grueling instead" as if it's no different to buying a flavor of jello?
Have fewer episodes over a longer period of time.

It's not fucking rocket science.

I'm not so sure. Work has a way of expanding to fill the available space. Keep in mind that TV production cuts a lot of corners to fit its schedule. The amount of time devoted to a given scene is less than it ideally would be. So if a show had a more cinematic shooting schedule, that wouldn't necessarily mean less work or more downtime; it would probably mean more time spent to set up shots just right, more takes of each shot, etc.

Or they can use the extra time to do safety checks and otherwise take more time planning stunts. And with any amount of good time management, the time the directors and DPs are out walking the set can be budgeted to allow for cast and any unneeded crew to rest.

Not to mention keeping people on set segregated is going to have to be a reality for the next two or three years. It's a good opportunity to change the paradigm.

Could mean actors would be in line to make less money. Which they may not be for.
It doesn't have to.

Ideally, sure. But like I said, when you get more time to do your work, you generally find that you end up with more work too, so you can't assume it's a simple matter of halving the workload and doubling the available time. Life is messier than that.

I'm not as familiar with the show as many of you are, but why are they recasting her exactly? Legacy heroes are a thing, especially in DC stuff, so can't they just have Kate Kane get injured/sidelined/retire and have someone new brought in to become the new Batwoman?

The whole show so far has revolved around the family conflict between Kate and her sister who is the villain and the effect that the family tragedy has had on her father, stepsister and stepmother. Also, Kate is Batwoman due to being related to Bruce Wayne and her relationship with Luke Fox spins out of that. Then you also have the fact that the last show with Ruby Rose ends with her as Batwoman so you'd have to explain the character being sidelined without actually showing her. Not to say it couldn't be done but there's solid reasons to go with recasting the role.

They could just go with a Kate Kane from a alternate universe since people don't have to look the same on ever world.

If they HAD to explain it, this would probably be the best approach. The concept is now baked into the Arrowverse, and it's not (quite) as cheesy as something like the plastic surgery card, which is frankly just embarrassing and laughable.

But they'd be best served by ignoring it entirely.

Not necessary. The Bond franchise has replaced actors for over a half century, and they did not need shoehorned explanations why his physical features changed.
