Spoilers Batwoman - Season 1

Ruby returns for season 3 a little heavier and not at all interested in doing the season but she does it to support Scottish charities

Which was an ad-lib that meant nothing and should have been excised.

Hey, a little humility and self-depreciating humor in that kind of situation never hurts. Those were BIG shoes being stepped into. That ad-lib probably did more than anything else to win audiences over to Lazenby; It certainly wasn't the box office's or the producers' idea for him to be a one-and-done.

Since it seems like they may be recasting Sam Lane and Morgan Edge for Superman & Lois, maybe there could be some throwaway line about some residual post-Crisis reality ripples altering people's appearances.

Certainly doesn't seem to see her departure as any great loss. Is she the 21st century David Caruso?

I take it you only read the headline and not the actual article. When asked if he regretted it or saw it as an opportunity, Guggenheim said it was both.

Besides, writers always see bad situations as creative opportunities. Creativity is about problem-solving, so the bigger the problem, the bigger the opportunity to get creative. But that doesn't mean we don't regret those problems. Writers are often very unhappy about the problems we have to wrestle with, but we still enjoy the challenge of solving them. That's why most people can't cut it as writers -- they're not as happy to torture themselves as we are.

Is it really that hard to understand that this is fiction and these are just actors?

Don't be insulting. Talking about possible creative options in a work of fiction has never, to any rational observer, been evidence that the speaker does not understand what fiction is. The people who play video games understand they're not real, but they still get invested in playing them, because they find it entertaining and challenging to do so. This kind of speculation is just another way of playing a game.

Based on some things i saw online, I'm going to put it out there that the producers may have an actress in mind who nobody is thinking about but who is an almost-perfect replacement based on the circumstances that led to Ruby's departure.

I loved season 1, and Ruby's take on the character, but what I definitely don't want is an actress playing Ruby playing Kate.

So I think whoever they pick should have free reign to make the character her own, and if any slight continuity issues arise as a result... who cares, just blame Barry. :p

Which was an ad-lib that meant nothing and should have been excised.
No. It was added (written) by Maibaum into the script based on things Lazenby had said while complaining on-set. The whole 'ad-libbing' thing was just another example of Lazenby rewriting history to make himself look better.

It also stands as an important thematic double entendre. It's really one of the strongest single lines of the entire franchise. Excising it would have been a terrible thing to do.
