It's somehow appropriate that a discussion of Zack Snyder movies has devolved into talking about going potty.

I once loved epic movies that took 3 hours or more but as i got older my patience has apparently gone. Last new 3 hour movie i saw was The Irishman and even with Scorsese and De Niro and all the other top talent i got bored midway through.

Maybe it's different for movies or stories i have a direct interest in (i'm sure that if the new Dune movie was 3 hours i'd be very happy) but i believe if you are not able to tell your story in 2 hours +/- a few minutes then you should look at the story itself.

Last one for me was Endgame and after that large soda my bladder had to have a break just past the 2 hour mark...........the joys of aging.

I made a point of not consuming any liquids for 3 hours before the movie. I took a pee when I got into the theater and again when previews started. I made it completely through the movie but really had to go again by the time it was over. It was worth it.

It really depends on the film. I agree that most modern films are far too long. My wife and I recently watched 21 Bridges and, while by no means a classic, at 99 minutes it felt refreshingly brief and lean, leaving you wanting more, even though this would’ve been the norm 20 - 30 years ago. OTOH, while Blade Runner 2049 is very long and very slow, I wouldn’t cut a second from it.

We basically watched The Irishman as a miniseries, which is how I think a lot of modern films would probably work best.

For genre films that I'm excited about, the longer the better. More more more, gimme gimme gimme.

I never drink anything for a couple hours before a movie (and certainly not during), and I always squeeze out a final "pre-emptive pee" a few minutes before it starts.

AS said in the other thread, I can't wait for this. I loved Man of Steel and Batman V Superman. It's a shame it'll end on a never-to-be-completed cliffhanger, but I'll take it. I prefer Avengers: Infinity War over the Infinity War/Endgame combo anyway:lol:

Well, given the rate at which DC craps out animated movies, at this point I'd be surprised if anything apart from a totally disastrous reception for the Snyder Cut fails to result in an animated follow-up...

So apparently it's a cool thing now to film yourself destroying your dvd/bluray of Justice League and post a video doing it. Wow.....

I don't think that'll happen. It really can't be any worse. But I also don't think it's very likely Snyder holds some rosetta stone to finding the chef d'oeuvre buried within like some seem to believe.

We should start a petition to release that cut.

I know what you're saying, but it's precisely that reason that I am really liking streaming services. I haven't watched The Irishman yet but when I do, I will watch it over two or three days. Even with streaming series, I am at the point where episodes don't really mean anything to me--I just stop watching when I'm tired and pick up again the next day or a week later.

I agree with this--I enjoyed his first two movies and would have liked to see the rest of what he had planned--but it was no where near some kind of definitive version of how I would like to see Superman or the Justice League. That said, it is a shame that the DC cinematic universe was never able to really find its footing (that is WB's fault not Snyder's) because the foundation was there for something truly interesting to happen.

Seen it done before (though with a game) because they blamed that for destroying that genre of game.
