Donny's Refit Enterprise Interiors (Version 2.0)

*Snicker* You've reminded me how I misunderstood that "PA" voice. For several years, watching the edition that aired on HBO in the early 80s, I found myself scratching my head over the seeming gibberish, "Pay cure bee quad." Maybe I was just incredibly "dense"; maybe the audio mix for that copy was just a bit off. Upon watching on VHS, maybe the DVD (before the "Director's Cut"), I finally realized that disembodied voice was saying, "Pressure equalized," in response to a successful docking.

D'OH!!!
Hmm... I never had any trouble picking out "pressure equalized" but I have certainly had times where I heard things wrong. From memory, the monotone voices go:
"Pod secure" - "Pressure equalized"
"Attention launch crew, a travel pod is now available at cargo 6. Travel pod available... cargo 6"
"Engineering to all decks, auxiliary power test in three minutes... mark"

and I've always had a fondness for the original theatrical release alert sound, with the mechanical "Emergency alert, emergency alert, emergency alert" calling over it.

Hey, maybe if its not an issue and there are no hard feelings, I'm okay with that. I do not wish for any hostility. I just remember things getting awfully heated, so I wanted to keep my distance for the sake of keeping things civil. Hard to do, given certain topics. I forgot if it was on Facebook or YouTube, but it was rough.

Woof. Let’s not use this thread as a means to talk about past or present issues with other board members, please and thank you!

Sorry. I tried to keep things as ambiguous as possible to not get an argument started.
I just really, really, REALLY would love to see those Voyage Home console designs. It has been my earliest memory of Okudagram obsession, starting all the way back to when I got the "Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise" book from the Star Trek gift shop back when the "Star Trek Adventure" was still at Universal Studios Hollywood. Ahh... my Young Trekkie memories. It certainly helps that Voyage Home was the very first Star Trek I ever saw, and where my love of the franchise began. You know, that old VHS tape that had the incomplete teaser trailer for TNG at the beginning of it?

Anyway, here's some progress on the pod. This lady has been more of a beast to model than I expected. So many panels and tiny details, and making sure the spacing is correct in relation to other panels/details/etc has been key. Lots of practice for when I model a shuttlecraft of the era!

You signed up Monday, I kinda recognized the user name..what’s you Facebook profile..real name?

Guys, please take this conversation to PMs please.

Donny, looks great! Could you by chance possibly be talking about the TMP Wedge shuttles when you talk about shuttlecraft? :) A guy can hope.

Personally I like the ST5 shuttle better than the TMP one with the exception of the flashing lights on the underside of the ST5 shuttle.

I would be happy to,... but I either cannot find the PM option, or it is not available to me until the 14-day probation has passed. I am not sure if it is kosher to post my real or FB name here, so I am currently refraining

Do you plan on modeling the inside as well? If so, have you found images of the forward section and its control panels? I do have an image or two, and will be happy to post them as soon as the 14-day period has passed.

I'll be curious to see what Donny comes up with for the TMP shuttle's interior, since we never got to see it.

I like the TFF shuttle as well, but there's a familiarity factor there — it was heavily featured in the movie, and then was also heavily featured in the last three seasons of TNG and the early seasons of VOY after they reworked it into the Type 6 and Type 8 shuttles.

Well... Everybody likes the Star Trek 5 shuttle- the TMP one is easily (and readily?) forgotten but its rarity is why I love it so much, along with a lot of things about TMP that get glossed over in the rest of the era.

(Rarity is also the reason I'm still hot to see the white ST4 sets of the Refit bridge- it's the rarest of the TMP sets!)

I'm not certain if there are plans out there, but I did see a model mockup. I recall this being a real action figure prototype but looking at it again, I'm not certain because it looks homemade.

That's really nice, but definitely homemade.

You can catch a brief glimpse of Mego's "Vulcan Shuttle" prototype in this commercial... like their vacuformed TMP bridge, it's more of an "impression" than a replica. :p

Pretty hilarious that whoever made that mockup thought a shuttlecraft would need its own tactical station :guffaw:

EDIT: Then again, maybe they had reason to. This picture's from the Mego Museum website, part of a handout for the 1979 Toyfair. Looks like someone back then worked out what the interior would have looked like, before it was boiled down to what you see in the toy commercial above. That's a pretty close match to the mockup.

Andrew Probert came up with several different modular configurations for the TMP shuttle that were intended for an unreleased(?) model kit: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q42h8bely13pxtx/STTMP_Shuttle_Probert.jpg?dl=0
I believe that was designs for what would be later dubbed the "Surak craft" as seen in TMP. The original concept was a warp sled for the shuttlecraft as standard issue, but it instead morphed into a Vulcan-specific craft, or just with a Vulcan registry.
