I won't lie, when Alison was cast, I kept wondering what alien she'd play because of her spherical face.

I'm loving Pill's performance as Jurati. It's great to see a Star Trek character who isn't an uber-competent Starfleet paragon. She's quirky and neurotic and, yes, appropriately anguished over what she did to Maddox. (I loved her hiding the table during the turbulent passage through the conduit.)

And, dialogue-wise, she has her own distinctive voice, which contrasts nicely with the other cast members.

Me and my family find her the weakest link in the series, honestly.

After what she did to Maddox especially, even with the influence of the meld, they're trying to hard to force a redemption on her that doesn't feel earned or true.

I agree with this.

Her quivering chin was a bit overdone everytime she got emotional...

Actually they never said the mind meld caused her to murder. Mind melds have never had the power to make people something they aren't. Supposedly what she saw made her murder. That's not a real excuse. By this time in earths future they have already fought off potential extinction from the borg and Dominion. If her fear made her murder I would not want to be the guy around her that she believes might inadvertently cause some kind of threat. Really though what did killing Maddox accomplish? Nothing.

For the Zhat Vash he was the Ground Zero for the Admonition and the "father" of the Destroyer. Do the the math.

Overall I think Soji had a lot more issues than Jurati. I mean Jurati murdered one guy while trying to save all organic life.

Soji in her right mind pointed extinction at every organic being. Also she allowed Picard to get locked up and then tried to ease her own guilt about it.

And she pushed Picard nearly killing him after he told her the Pizza was ready

Two episodes of TOS disprove that. When imprisoned, Spock uses a mind-meld to manipulate a guard into opening a door and freeing him and Kirk in "A Taste of Armageddon". Then, in "The Omega Glory", Spock uses a remote mind-meld/link to get a woman to reach for a communicator to contact the Enterprise.

I could probably throw "By Any Other Name" into the mix too, for good measure, but I won't. When Spock attempts to to get Kelinda to free them it doesn't work. So it's not 100%.

But Oh in PIC is older than Spock in TOS, less ethical, and has probably had a lot more time to perfect her technique.

She murdered her ex boyfriend, and then a short time later she's making out with another dude. Even is the murder was mind meld induced, there has to be some sort of trauma associated with that. She needs help!

Yet honestly if we are supposed to believe sharing that "vision" really affected her so much, as far as to murder her boyfriend, lover, inspiration etc...
Maybe how the vision should have ended for her too ....

Or like Rios' own captain Vandermeer...
