In my earlier post, while typing it, I must've blocked out 'Nemesis', such a weak movie, haven't payed attention to it in many many years. Data was alive in 'All Good Things...' and that's where TNG ends, for me. And the series does end with that episode. But Data died in a TNG movie and you think that poops on TNG.
While Alice Krige was great with her peformance as the Queen....Exactly. So what's the problem with the Queen?
I'm just a big fan on the well lit Enterprise-D. Perhaps the dark theme works well in 'Picard', don't know really.Assuming you mean the lighting and you're not talking tonally, yeah, I get how that can be annoying. But Picard still has some brightly lit locations, like the vineyard or the Synth world. Even the sets that are dark, like the La Sirena or the Borg cube aren't so dark that it's impossible to see things.
It's one of the things that is annoying a little bit, unfortunately not the only one.Regardless, as annoying as dark sets can be it's still a pretty weird reason to refuse to watch a show.
No, death is a part of life. In many cases writers just kill off liked characters without a good reason. (opinion)So the only way for you to enjoy any movie or TV show is that no character ever dies. Good luck with that XD
I haven't watched the series so hard to reply to this. But are mind and body two different things? If body dies, mind might go with it, no matter how sophisticated programming some computer has.Picard traveled to the Data simulation, then traveled to his new body. What's the difference to traveling into a nebula and the ship's circuits? Do you regret watching WOK, since it pooped on all of TOS?
Then I must have written poorly, that's not what I mean.Your topic is: characters getting killed poops on all previous episodes. That's what I read at least...
Did BTTF2 and 3 ruin 1? Did Aliens ruin Alien? Did T2 ruin T1? Did Alien 3 and Prometheus ruin Alien or Aliens? Did T3-6 ruin T1-2?
Not really, no.
I would say a sequel can certainly affect previous stories. Look at how Generations negatively affected the episode Family from TNG. The ending with Rene looking towards the stars is more of a tragedy. And I would say it wasnt really worth it for the effect it achieved in Generations

I'm not saying that everyone does. I just try to take a story as it is in the moment. Generations is unfortunately tragic, but that doesn't change how the Picards reconcile in Family.I guess if you can watch The Matrix and forget how lame Zion turned out to be with the rave and council scenes, how goofy agent Smith and the rest of the story turns out, and all the architect info dumps. I cant really forget how bad it was and enjoy the original anymore.

Then you're using Picard as a scapegoat for things Generations, Nemesis, and the 2009 film have done. Picard doesn't pick up where TNG left off. It picks up where the 24th Century left off (including DS9, VOY, and the movies).
Additions are never necessary. But hey, TNG is great just as a TV series, it isn't necessary to add anything to it.
Then I think you're not judging Picard fairly. It's picking up where things left off in the timeline in general. Not just TNG. You don't have to like where things left off (I don't like all of it either), but Picard still had to address it. It can't pretend Data didn't die, Romulus wasn't destroyed, and Picard wasn't stuck with a vineyard he inherited. It can't ignore those things if it wants to be the continuation of previous Star Trek. This is not the state Picard created. It's the state Picard found things in.'Generations' is weak and 'Nemesis' is just bad. (<- opinion)
I'm not sure I have watched Star Trek 2009.... I have watched the one with "new" Kirk and Nimoy.
Seems like if one (me) were to end TNG marathon with 'All Good Things...' it isn't smart to jump straight into 'Picard'.
But hey, TNG is great just as a TV series, it isn't necessary to add anything to it.
Pretty much.People complaining about where New Trek picked up are really complaining about where Old Trek left off.
Spock, Surak, Soong, and Graves would disagreeI haven't watched the series so hard to reply to this. But are mind and body two different things? If body dies, mind might go with it, no matter how sophisticated programming some computer has.
They're just examples. The Matrix as mentioned later is another good one.Seems like it's presumed that since someone here (me) likes Star Trek I must automatically like all those other things mentioned. Well, I don't. Alien is not for me, at all. I don't think I have ever watched any of them from start to finish. I could have, I just don't remember. Terminators have their moments but when you start to really think about the plot it's quite ridiculous. Back to the Future, can't really say, I haven't watched them in.... I'm not sure I have watched them? ....apart from some scenes on TV while channel surfing.
