It's going to be that way as long as Disney is in charge. Disney isn't called the evil empire for nothing.

There is not a single announcement from Star Trek or Star Wars that I expect to go well.

It's prequel with a hot twenty-something Neelix. The deltoid quadrant. Also biceps, pecs and glutes.

Okay, now you took something wholesome and decent and turned it into something evil and without redemption.

Well done. Now you have become much as Neelix.

Neelix is haunted by the spirit of Tuvix. For Tuvix to pass over into the afterlife he has to solve 100 crimes or 5 seasons worth of stand alone episodes before he can do it. But he is going to need help from sexy but strong and independent space cop Justine Justice played by whoever is the top runway model right now. Along with crusty C-List character actor Adrian Paul as ships captain and martial arts expert. All be show on CW Seed.

We really need an updated version of this, where 'newsletter' is replaced with 'podcast'.

The Simpsons may run long enough for it to be replaced with "mind chip implant." ;)

Let me ask: why announce this hire and this show.. right now? Why announce it when no one can produce the Andor show they already announced.. and even the Mandalorian production has to pause? Why announce it and then.. not even mention it at all ever gain on the SW site?

Because Disney is hurting badly right now, and they have to keep announcing things to convince shareholders (as well as potential shareholders) that there's more Star Wars coming to drive revenue up again, and that it's worth keeping your shares (or buying up shares).

    Connect the dots for us.
Sounds like stuff that happens all the time. "We got producer X from highly acclaimed show Y to work for us!" Typical Hollywood pump priming. See Tarentino Trek or Hawley Trek for other examples. Hopefully this won't go nowhere like those.

So why won't they talk about it.. even leave an open-ended slot on their website.. or tell us something about the show, the time period? Isn't it odd that the only thing we know about the show is that it's female centric? Considering the entertainment climate right now, is that really the one aspect of the show they want to pimp BEFORE anything else?

My question is rhetorical by the way. this is not a show Disney would ever plan on making and that Variety was writing the story based on a deliberate scoop from KK or Headlund or someone close to them. I won't be able to cinematic you of that, except to say that there is no reason to announce THIS show in THIS way right now.. the shareholders blah blah blah.. they'd rather hear that the current business and the current projects already out there can be completed.. that's what they want to hear right now

I might add alone that this announcement alone has nor forever trivialized the franchise. I won't argue that in the past, for about 30 years the central characters were always male. but they never went out of their way to tell people that the films and were male- centric or that they were aimed at a male audience. That would have been stupid. That would have been dumber than filming the prequels on green screen sets and over-processing them in a computer. They made the films for everyone. With one announcement the brand has been tarnished forever.. and everyone has been insulted.

Sure there is. It's called optimism for the future of their projects.

    Sure, why not?

Why, why, why do we care so much about Disney's business dealings? Are we hand wringing over CBS' hirings for Trek? What about Marvel's next hiring? Are we questioning them? Hmmm, perhaps I'll ring up the CEO of my former company and give him some hot tips?

Ridiculous, you say? So is this obsession with a company's financial deals that has zero impact upon my daily life.
