Directors Guild of Canada Adds 'Star Trek: Enterprise' Production Page

According to someone from Geeks World Wide, Strange New World (the Pike Show) finished pre-production this week. Apparently all the scripts for the first season are finished as well and shooting will start sooner than later (after Covid19 restrictions are lifted). Is building sets pre-production? In that case I don't see how they could be building sets in these times? Sure, the bridge was already done, turbolifts and the transporter room as well and engineering might be CGI, but still...

I personally don't know what to think of that.

I can get on Twitter and post that preproduction on the Pike show is complete. That doesn't make it any more true.

You could, but I doubt anyone would believe you.

Apparently, the guy who made the comment does have some kind reliable track record...

Oh, that's not true at all. There are a ton of people on the internet spouting falsehoods all the time, and an equal amount of people slavishly believing them without regard for actually fact-checking what they're saying.

It's literally impossible for them to finish pre-production in the current situation, that would mean sets are done, actors, extras and the entire crew are hired and everything is ready to go.
There's also no reason for them to do the entire pre production in secret without a show announcement, it would make things unnecessarily hard for everyone.

Assuming the series is going to happen, it would most likely get announced at Comic-Con. Now that that's not happening and everything is on hold, I don't see any reason that they would be completing any major prep work when they couldn't actually move ahead with anything for the foreseeable future. I'm ready to be wrong, but I just don't see any reason to believe these people.

There are Netflix shows that are filmed entirely before they're announced.

The show has finished development. Not pre-production. Three different art teams for three different takes.

This is Star Trek. Nothing is going to be done without someone putting out leaks. You know, like you’re allegedly doing.

But that hasn't been done for either Discovery or Picard. They want the big announcements, they want the huge press to drive subscribers to All Access. What does doing prep work in secret to for them?

They did work on Picard and Discovery before they announced those shows, I'm sure they're working on Pike as well, like designing stuff and maybe some writing. That work can continue, despite the Covid-19 situation.

Honestly, one can hope the delay in the start of shooting will - in general - mean much tighter writing for upcoming Trek. I mean, I'm sure there will still be last-minute writing tweaks, and deleted scenes will cause plot holes, but they won't be scrambling to figure out a seasonal arc or anything.

I think season 3 will be the first indicator of what Discovery is like when things are going according to plan. If the storytelling is still as wonky, then there's no one to blame but themselves. Picard has a similar problem in that there didn't seem to be any drama behind the scenes, and the result wasn't exactly stellar.
