My bad. I was thinking about Juan Bolsa, the guy who went to talk with Gus at times, even before Lalo showed up. He's a cartel guy, not a Salamanca. Lalo cannot be that naive to not suspect someone outside the family but within the cartel. He did have a certain...tone/body language when he saw the cash on the table.
So during Breaking Bad, Saul is having all the paying clients and Kim is continuing her pro-bono work and it's her desk that's always empty. I do love how some in here have put Kim on a pedestal, she's possibly the best character after Jimmy, but she's certainly not as pure and innocent as some think and that, to me, makes the character. - she knows deep down, she's a morally corrupt individual and against her better judgement, she tries to offset it.
That's what I like about the show so much. Most of the characters are kind of morally corrupt but they aren't evil or even bad people in a interesting way. They don't like seeing people get screwed like say the old people at Sand Piper or the guy who didn't want to leave his home. Jason
I found this final episode to be a bit anti climatic after everything that happened. I was expecting something more. But I like how they set up the final season. I don't think kim is going to be dead during Breaking Bad because that would just destroy Saul. She's somewhere else. Anyone want to take a guess when we will see season 6? 2022?
Not sure when but I think I got a prediction for what will happen to Kim. It isn't going to have anything to do with gangsters. I think Howard Hamlin is going to end up killing himself after the Sand Piper thing brings down Hamlin Hamlin McGill lawfirm and she ends up loosing her license in the process because when she was their she did something that is exposed when the firm is exposed. She ends up being arrested and going to jail and that is where she was during Breaking Bad. Maybe she was going to work with Jimmy which explains the chair but never really got to or got to for long before being arrested. Maybe in the future Jimmy also gets arrested and that leads to some kind of reunion. If the gangsters do have something to do with it is maybe Jimmy decides to keep working for Gus Fring in order for her not to be killed while in prison. Basically Jimmy becomes the new Nacho in that Fring uses leverage to control him during Breaking Bad. Actually what he did with Walter and Jesse as well. Jason
Jimmy never worked for Fring, I don't believe.... I could buy things going badly for Kim when she tries to take down Hamlin though. But I'm not sure she'd be in jail long, unless she took in a lot of money, hurt someone physically or something like that.
In season 2 of Breaking Bad, Jimmy said that he knew a guy (Mike) who knew a guy who was a high level drug dealer, but didn't know who he was. At the end of the series Jimmy knows that Fring exists, and that Mike works for him, but he doesn't know his name. Just because Jimmy didn't commit violent crimes himself does not mean he's not legally culpable for aiding and abetting them. Look up RICO statutes. If you are the driver of the getaway car when a murder is committed, you are a first degree murderer. Enmund v Florida. If they can prove that Walter White committed murder, and that Jimmy assisted his criminal enterprise, Jimmy is a murderer.
That doesn’t negate what I said. Saul didn’t know Fring until much later and he still didn’t work for him.
But if Jimmy is working with Walter and Walter is working for Fring doesn't that mean he kind of is working for Fring? Jason
Not really. It's like saying a lawyer is working for a client's employer.... I mean if I decided to hire on a lawyer, they would still not be considered an employee of whoever I work for...
just (yesterday) watched the final episode, great to see a series that dont degrade along with the season numbers.
Peter Gould did a long and lovely interview with the A.V. Club's Alex McLevy and buried in the middle of the interview, Gould drops this spectacular nugget about the early development of the show: When we first started working on Better Call Saul, Vince [Gilligan] and I—this is even before we had a writers room—one of the first questions was, who’s in the cast? Is there anybody from Breaking Bad who we can fit into this world? And we just knew right away that Jonathan Banks was our guy because we loved working with him. And we had seen that Saul and Mike had had a relationship, a complicated relationship. And we thought, well, there’s more to say there. And almost as soon as that decision had been made, we had this image, which was the two guys out in the desert, having to make a desert journey, handcuffed together and having to drink their own urine. And this was an image that came before we had writers. It was very early, and we were talking about it, and I loved it. I always wanted this, because I love both these actors so much. I love their characters so much. And I want more every season. At the end of the season, I say, “Why can’t we have more Mike and Jimmy?” And the truth was, because the characters weren’t ready. We could have forced it. I think there’s a world where we could have put on the board, “Okay: Episode six, season one, Mike and Jimmy are in the desert. How do we make that happen?” And I’m proud of us and proud of our restraint, for waiting until we had already made 47 episodes before we got to that image that we’d had right off the bat. I can't imagine that wonderful sensation Peter and Vince felt when that particular image they first conjured up so early on in the development of the show finally came to fruition after years of patience. I wasn't going to bump this thread, but the longer we haven't heard anything, the more worried I get: Bob Odenkirk collapsed on the set of the show yesterday and we don't know his condition.
No new news yet from our local paper or stations here in Albuquerque. Hopefully we'll have an update tonight. They've been shooting all over the city along with Stranger Things (and a host of other shows). It shouldn't be heat related because we've actually been having some milder wet weather this week.
Yeah it seems strange that nothing has been announced, or leaked. Better Call Saul is one of my few remaining reasons for living. Get well, Bob!
He's in stable condition after suffering a heart-related incident. “We can confirm Bob is in stable condition after experiencing a heart related incident,” the actor’s reps said in a statement. “He and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side. The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.” His son, Nate, also tweeted: "He's going to be okay."
I just saw Nate’s tweet too and was coming to report. Here’s to a speedy recovery. I know a handful of folks around here who have worked with him and to a person they all say he’s the nicest guy. He’s been a very good friend to our community.
