Better Call Saul, the TV series

Sorry, not sorry for the triple post.

Bob Odenkirk tweeted today that the show finished filming yesterday:

Yesterday an amazing crew of people finished shooting “Better Call Saul” in Albuquerque, NM. It began in 2014, with great writing always leading the charge, and despite challenges of all kinds, our energy and care never flagged. I am honored to have been part of it.
The tweet includes a lovely photo of him and Rhea Seehorn hiking somewhere high. I imagine marillion might have an idea whereabouts they are.

We finally have a trailer! And a premiere date!

^ Beat me to it. Anyway, that video is unavailable over here, so I’m posting this one for any who find it useful:

Oh, damn. I didn't even notice it was region locked. Sorry about that.

I really hate that's even a thing in this day and age.

Quick sidebar question: I wonder, is region locking one of the bad side effects of that web law that created so much controversy back in the day... what was it called - "Net Neutrality"?

Looking good, and let's hope Mike's comment that things won't go how you think holds true and Kim and Nacho both survive! So, is Lalo a twin then? (I guess they do run in the Salamanca family).

Am I right in thinking that the story ends before Jimmy meets Walt and Jesse (before skipping forward to after Jimmy winds up in Nebraska)?

I wouldn't be surprised if in the final episode we see Walter White for the first time. Maybe he doesn't even have exchange with Jimmy but they do something that feels foreboding to what we know is coming. Maybe Jimmy is commenting on his future to someone and says something like "I don't know what is in my future" and you see Water White walk by in the background without even saying a word.

Our of the three Lalo is the hardest one to make survive. Fring seemed very sure there were no more Salamancas when he was tormenting Hector.

I have hope for Nacho for the main reason that Saul has not met vacuum guy yet. For Kim I have no idea what happens, early in the show we just assumed she finally morally rejected him but that seems less and less likely.

For all we know, Kim is the one who crosses the line and gets caught and SHE gets disappeared by vacuum guy. I wonder how they will write around the actor’s death.

I would believe everything from just ending in current timeline to the last episode filling in all the missing details from BB.

This is going to be a sad time for Albuquerque. While many movies and shows are now filmed here, none have had the high profile that Breaking Bad and BCS have. These two shows have given us a lot of (some would say not so great) exposure to the outside world as well as revenue. Add to that my wife even got to be in a couple of episodes.

I'm torn on Cranston coming back for a cameo at the end. This has been Bob's show, beginning to end, so I wonder if that kind of a fan service thing would take away from it.

I'd be okay with a cameo. There would be no BCS without BB. Seems fitting.

I, too, am sad to see yet another great show come to an end. At least it was on its own terms, though. Most shows don't get that opportunity and just get unceremoniously cancelled, only to fade off into obscurity, never to reach for their fullest potential. BCS is not one of those! :)

Is the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul the only shows filmed their that has the setting of those shows actually be Albuquerque?

That's a good question. I know there was a show filmed here several years ago, starting Nana Visitor that took place on a ranch.. I think that was set in the Albuquerque areas and surrounding rurals (of which there are plentiful).

We have several large production studios here (Netflix, NBC Universal), so we're getting a lot of things produced here, if not actual "set" here.

What I find kind of ironic (and annoying) is that Epix is about to debut a series about Billy the Kid, the notorious New Mexico outlaw. While we have SO many Wild West production sets and locations, it's all being shot in Canada.

I'm wondering if that's Howard's place Mike is looking around.

El Camino hotel

Howard seems to be unraveling. Clifford Main appears concerned about him.

My hopes for the final scene:

Gene tentatively answers the front door

Gene: "... Kim?"

Kim: "Jimmy."

Gene: "But ... but I thought -"

Kim: "It doesn't matter. None of it matters anymore. Let's go home."
-------------------------------------------------

Sure.

If Kim seeks out Gene, it means one of two things. Either she decided to go on the run WITH him, or she is trying to talk him into turning himself in and taking his punishment.

There is no world where Saul gets pardoned for his role in a major drug operation for which everybody else either died or got away.

I'm watching the season 3 finale right now. In retrospect this might be the most important episode of the series. Besides Charles' suicide, a turning point for Kim's outlook after her accident, Hector's stroke. Jimmy showing that he cares more about an elderly woman having friends than he does about his financial needs.

Watching this now, I wonder what could have been done for Chuck. Whatever an ass he was to Jimmy, it's impossible not to see an alternate ending for him where he puts Jimmy behind him and goes to live with Rebecca for the rest of his days and wish he had the strength to choose it.

It's also amazing how they did a spinoff of a show full of beloved characters, did justice to all of them, but somehow a new character (Kim) is the best character in the show.

Is there *any* chance season 5 goes on Netflix in time or am I really going to have to pay AMC+ for a month to catch up?
