Here's hoping they planned beyond the season midpoint this year. I'd dearly love a story that didn't veer sharply into crazy at about the two thirds mark.

Just a thought, but that may have occurred to them.
I wouldn’t be too sure with these people. :)

I'd love if they went to the 32nd century Kelvin universe and realised that although their 23rd century is chaotic, it's the happily ever after timeline.

People will bitch about anything and everything. Whatever. I have been pumped for S3 since S2 ended. Go ahead and recycle the score from the last 2 seasons of Disco and S1 of Picard as an experiment to see if it will work. If not, it's not like you wasted productive time.

My 100% accurate prediction:

Unification III:
Riker and Troi are on the Holodeck during the events of Unification I & II, trying to understand Spock's motivation for uniting the Romulan and Vulcan people. They run a program about Spock's little-known sister during her well-documented adventures in the 32nd century.

Was Romulus destroyed in both timelines, or did Nero have some way to avoid that?

The sensible thing to do would have been to use the red matter to destroy the sun there and then (assuming there was no other way and he didn't do it in the 25 year gap) before going after Vulcan and Earth... Nero wasn't sensible though, he was just out for revenge.

Assuming the whole Hobus thing was unavoidable then Romulas is probably toast in whatever timeline.

Why couldn’t you spread multiparter over different shows?
The Arrowverse shows are doing it all the Time with their crossovers.
Crisis on Infinite Earths I-V anyone?

I guess the issue is the difference in when the shows air. The earlier cross overs were smaller "the Flash asks for help so Team Arrow guest star" but by this point they are major multipart event episodes which only works when the shows are being filmed and then aired at a similar time so the cross over story plays over consecutive nights / weeks.

I think that the title Unification III is one of those typical and usually unintentional misleading baits; fans rabidly and excitedly speculate, then the delivery proves everybody wrong and disappoints.

I bet the the title Unification III refers to the the name of a planet that Discovery visits... :D
