^ You mean, people might not vote for the "most electable" candidate? *faint*

Also, might have helped if Sanders had negotiated any concessions (aside from meaningless "task forces") before giving his endorsement.

It might have helped if Sanders did EVERYTHING different. Including not calling Biden his friend all the time, attacking the media, not dropping out, saying Biden can't beat Trump and he if fact can, standing by his supporters and not throwing them under the bus.

And the presidential race is on topic. If you live in the USA Sanders was supporting Medicare for All when Biden will still, in the middle of a pandemic, veto it. There is nothing more on topic than that.

Biden is the better candidate. Period.

He can win and he's mostly progressive. Sanders is a flaming progressive and he'd get his ass handed to him.

Good one! I needed a laugh. He's a corporatist to the bones. He's an 80s Republican. Sanders is a moderate in 90% of the planet.
News flash, you can't be called a progressive and not be for Medicare for All.
The DNC set it up to have the one person who is more mentally unfit to be president than Trump.

But on a lighter topic than 4 more years of mentally unfit presidents. Cooking!

I'm sorry some people didn't get their radical champion but Biden can win and he's currently leading in most of the states that matter. Were Bernie the Democratic nominee I'd vote for him in a heartbeat but he's not and thus he's out of the equation. Joe Biden isn't a raging neocon with a track record of being regressive. He's not a dementia-wracked pervert. He doesn't tick off all the boxes that the Bernie Bros and revolutionaries might want him to but no Democratic Presidential nominee this year except for Bernie was likely to do that.

If we lose again it'll be just as much the fault of the navel-gazing saboteurs within the Democratic Party who'll nitpick and nag him to death for not being the ideal progressive candidate as it'll be his own fault for not campaigning hard enough or in the right places or both. That "Trump supporter" shit isn't going to work on me. I don't have to fly a red banner of revolution to be progressive and know that Joe Biden can win.

We can end this nightmare if we unite and do our best to put forward the most progressive ticket possible. And this year that's not gonna be a Bernie ticket.

Oh. That's why you are wrong. You think Russia is to blame for Trump. There is no getting into those thick skulls facts.

While there is certainly a large political component to the pandemic response, running through a post-mortem of Sanders vs. Biden might be a bit off-topic for this particular thread. You are of course welcome to start a thread to discuss this. (Politics are not off-limits in Misc, just be aware that we are more tightly-moderated than TNZ, and will enforce anti-flaming and anti-trolling rules.)

Also, just a reminder to not get personal with other posters.

Except that we may never completely land, & the longer we wear it the more it could smother us. The shutdown isn't a parachute imho. It's a firehose. They have to shut it off at some point, even though there's still embers, & if there's flareups, you chase them with it. You don't just drown us all to be sure

That said... That's a conversation for next month. We AIN'T there yet
