Other than the La Sirena and the ancient Bird of Prey, I’m pretty sure Eaves designed all the other ships, unless you have a source that says otherwise.

The new starship saucers were awfully BSG like.

I am quite certain that people who tell the truth can also reassemble your atoms. :D:D

You mean, TOS did it first, right? What Are Little Girls Made Of?

Sounds like Patrick didn't have any input into this android resurrection business: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/l...down-shocking-star-trek-picard-finale-1286604

"I only learned of [Picard's death] way into [shooting] the first season," the Star Trek: Picard star tells The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive post-mortem interview about "Arcadia Ego" and the show's freshman season overall. "Because that final episode wasn't written yet, and I didn't know it was part of the storyline."

Stewart half-joked that, while the shoot was leading up to the finale, "there was a moment where I thought: ‘Oh, lord, am I being killed off? What did I do wrong?'"

You know, they could have just repaired part of his brain, a la Bashir and Vedek Bareil. Given him a partial positronic implant to replace/repair is parietal lobe. That could have been more poignant if they wrote it properly. "Now you have a little bit of Data inside you."

Making Picard a total android was just fucking dumb.

That’s for genuinely good ideas, not morally questionable ones. Flying as opposed to breeding people for the best traits.

Not to agree with that specific behaviour (selective breeding of people), but it's worth noting that what we now consider to be genuinely good ideas were often considered to be questionable ones (even from a moral standpoint) at the time they were first attempted or conceived.

Or vice versa. The inventor of TNT thought he had come up with a nice yellow dye.

And the inventor of the gif thought it should be pronounced with a soft "g."

    MONSTERS!

So wouldn't the super synth alliance still come to our galaxy to wipe us out even after the beacon/portal is closed? We know they span galaxies, so they would have the technology to reach our galaxy on their own and they know where we are. So, surely, they could come to our galaxy anyway.

Very Hellboy that; with a portal leading to a different realm allowing some powerful foe through.

That's exactly the thought that I was left with when the portal to the Cyber-Cthulu was closed.

Be pretty crappy if that is just ignored now. Be an easy way to tie in the machine species from TMP.

I loved it. The bit at the end with Data was beautiful. I'm glad Picard has a new lease on life, and I'm curious to see what he'll do with it. Seven of Nine has been the highlight of the season for me, and I hope she plays a big role going forward. The wait for the next season will not be easy.

Even if there were technical issues in uploading Data to a new body at the time, synth research had been banned for 14 years. If Data had waited a bit, he probably would have gotten a new body that aged and had a clear end, just like he wanted.

My guess is Anti-Synth story lines will play a part in Season 2, and "how do we handle banning synths when one of the most storied heroes in Federation history is now himself a synth?"

That's the part that makes Data's (or what's left of him) decision so questionable. Essentially Data's arc was that of Pinocchio - he always wanted to be a real boy. Now technology finally gives him the ability but he doesn't take it? It just seems like they set up situations where they can't pursue the possibilities because of contractual and/or budgetary constraints of the show.

That would just be a horrible story thread to follow, IMO.

My problem with that was it was really quick and completely offscreen - like the Federation Council said, "Oops. Our bad," and quickly reversed course on that. I'm glad they did it, but could have used more of a time jump and less of a hand wave.
