Reminds me of a Facebook conversation a friend of mine and I had with him. We asked if his (then-planned) project was based in any way off the FASA Four Years War module. He said "not to worry" because that material wasn't copyright anymore. My friend knew the person that held the rights to a lot of the old FASA stuff, and asked if they cleared it thru him. The responce was "it's not in print anymore, so who cares?", as if that voids the copyrights. We were blocked and banned from the Axanar Facebook soon after.
