Regarding Fed ships appearing in the new Picard series

The only reason I can think of as to why the warbirds are relatively small is that they have atmospheric capability and can land, which would explain why they look like modern jet fighters, since those long spindly wings make no sense in the vacuum of space. Of course, no one ever accused Eaves of his ship designs making sense.

Then again, Narek said they were just going to bomb Coppelius, not land and make a ground assault, so the long wings make even less sense.
