News Avenue 5

I guess the show will be... 3.5 seasons long?
I'd think with only 4 episodes left this season, & very little time having passed so far, that there'd have to be a huge time leap when we get to the next season if each season is to be one of the years on their trajectory.

Which is doable mind you, but in that amount of time, for them to have survived, they will have to have established a working model of whose getting them through this, cuz right now, there ain't that many able to do so lol

I really liked the fourth episode and I think the show has found its footing. Looking forward to the back half of the season.

I think I'm resigning myself to watching this pretty much only for Hugh Laurie and the Engineer woman. Everyone else is annoying and just too one-dimensional... For me, most of the so called 'humor' just falls flat....

I avoided the preview for the next episode, but I would love it if the president is played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. I'm sure it's not her, but it would still be amusing.

We're on the edge of devolving into utter chaos. They almost had a human sacrifice this week lol. Before this is over, I imagine a complete upheaval of roles on the ship. I hope enough people are watching this

It's been renewed, and the ratings seem to have stabilized. So don't worry, our ring of sh*t here will be orbiting for at least another year.

Yup, the Lord of the Flies vibe is growing stronger and the show is better for it. Chaos is just around the corner!

10 years ago "Billy" was the ghostly female lead on Being Human UK.

Her hairdo must be so labor intensive. It always looks fantastic, & it probably takes a lot of work to make it that way

& in that vein... I must also add, that I'm not all that fond of Hugh Laurie with the beard. It's kind of shabby, & hobo-ish. If it weren't for the shiny uniform, he'd look awful imho.

Granted, I'm speaking from a guy's point of view, & a Star Trek fan as well, where everybody always looks so sharp

People are starting to go insane...and that was before the everlasting, penetrating beeping causing ship-wide sleep deprivation. I know that pain all too well with an apartment fire alarm that was low battery and I wasn't allowed to fix it (Navy building, bureaucratic bullshit, etc.).

And of course, then Felix starts an unfounded rumor (and knew he was going to be wrong) that they were running out of oxygen. Oh, and the second president suggest killing 500 people!

Any moment now, chaos is going to truly break out.

I'm a bit torn. when I found this series, they were on episode 4. I watched all 4 in one night like a movie, & just fell in love. Since then, I've watched #5 & #6 in the weekly installments, & frankly, I enjoyed it much more binging it. A half hour just isn't enough time to get back into the flow after a week off. They've both been just as good as the others, but I just think I liked the rhythm more watching it all together.

I'll probably do an entire season 1 rewatch after it's over too, but for now I'm thinking I might skip next week, & just watch the last 2 together. I figure I'll have more fun! :D

I kind of wish they'd gotten 12 or so episodes. This really is incredibly truncated for as much fun as it is. I hope they get an episode extension with their new season

Holy shit, that got dark.

I mean, I expected this moment would come (I almost even looked forward to it), the moment when mob rule would take over and people would do something incredibly stupid. However, I hadn't expect it would be people willingly jettison themselves through the airlock, believing Avenue 5 was a simulation, a reality TV show. The first time around I can almost accept, because in that moment of hysteria, I can see people genuinely believing it. But to have people do it two more times after seeing what happens to them and fooling themselves that it was really good VFX (fucking!) is truly insane.

I also have to say I was pretty surprised Harrison Ames became one of those people who believed in the madness. Before that moment, he seemed like a genuinely smart person who saw through all of Judd's bullshit but then...wow.

Only one more episode left in the season. I wonder if they'll try to end things on a hopeful note or continue down the path of morbidity.

I think this only gets weirder for the moment, & they leave this in a very off place at the end, because clearly this show, for a comedy, has balls the size of planetoids. It's just about the best commentary about willful ignorance I have ever seen. In the age of flat Earthers, I have no problem picturing people taking a short walk into the dead of space because they live in their own infobubble

If this premise is ongoing, then it's sure to be a shit show until they sort out the best way to make it home. It seems like their only chance will be Billy & her crew, and maybe Spike, & now Rav to keep the ship functioning, & as many people alive as possible, assuming they stop deliberately doing themselves in. I do seem to recall, that pretty much all the scenerios being foreseen as an outcome have only a percentage of the lives aboard making it back. It'll be "Captain" Clark, & Karen who will be the only thing keeping the social balance in check.

To be fair, it ain't that impressive to see through Judd's bullshit. Pretty much every character on the show can. In his case, it's the narcissism that led the way out the airlock
