Who DOESN'T love Kestra Troi-Riker?!

So much for Riker's season one screed about respecting and not eating animals, I guess....

In a world where you can replicate meat in seconds, it seems particularly cruel and pointless to kill animals for food.
Wasn't that a one off line in Season 1 where that smug superiority was rampant before they all faced reality thanks to Q's help and got humbled?

I take it you missed the season 2 episode where he was shoving live animals into his face in preparation for serving on that Klingon ship?

What a ridiculous thing to complain about. Still haven't told us what culture Kestra was supposed to be appropriating by the way.

Would it be ethical if Kestra killed the bunnicorn but replicated another to take its place?

If its to keep the ecosystem stable, then yes. I got a feeling that Bunnicorns aren't actually endangered but are a nuisance that is edible and at the same time keeps the population under control.

Actually, Riker was eating replicated gagh on the Enterprise, and was surprised when he learned on the ship that it was eaten live.

Replicators don't create life.

I like the kid, but I don't like how she's killing animals when there is no need for that. Humans in the Star Trek future should have evolved beyond that kind of behavior.

Why? There is nothing wrong in killing an animal for sustenance and I'm sure she did it humanely. Besides, the bunnicorns had it coming. I hear they are bad gamblers and owed some people some money.

They have shields and anti-cloaking scans on their little farm, probably have defensive systems too. I don't see why they wouldn't have a replicator, even if it isn't as nice.

Cute little murderous bunnies, maybe, that were overpopulating the planet. Sounds like a eat-or-be-eaten kinda deal

Oryctolagus Monocerus might be a more interesting name than the ever-so-slightly campy "bunnicorn", which is a name nobody would begin to consider for a show like Star Trek (even TOS where the Mugatu was a monkey with a unicorn like horn and nobody called it "monkeehorn"!)... This show is what Patrick Stewart really wanted...?
