Mind melds are intense experiences so Agnes saw more than just images. She also felt what Oh felt about the terrifying future. Vulcan feelings are very strong. I wonder where these images in Oh's mind come from? Has she seen the future or is it something she's just worried could happen?

Poor Hugh. I was saddened about his death. Hopefully Riker, Deanna and Kestra will be ok.

They made Troi lose another kid? These so called writers must really hate these legacy characters; giving them depressing futures. Maybe it’s better if we don’t see them. They probably made Geordi deaf, Bashir go dumb and Tuvok blind. For real this time. :)

I enjoyed the episode somewhat. I liked the character of Kestra but her initial conversation with Soji was rather weirdly written. The scene where she works out the planet’s name was rather cliche; being like kids today with their smartphones showing up adults with knowledge they didn’t know.
I was disappointed we didn’t get a single Titan reference. Not even a picture of it on their wall. It’s good to hear Riker is still on the reserved list. That means they can bring him back down the line.
Rizzo is such a cartoony villain. She reminds me of a TOS one. Not a bad thing at all.

I was bummed to see Hugh killed, mostly because I liked him and hoped he'd be a recurring character...but also because it was the typical "We have no use for this character anymore so let's kill him for shock value" trope. I also hate when a character would otherwise be alive and well but because our hero came upon them, they're dead. I was worried about that with the Rikers, too. Overall it was another good episode, and next week looks like it ramps the action up tenfold.

That was already going wrong with rios onto narek
But Rios couldn't get his mind wrapped around the fact that Juarti was the problem.
Even though she was screaming on the inside about it.

She finally decided which side she wanted to be on.
Hopefully she comes completely clean before Chris actually blames Raffi out loud.

She called Captain Crandall and asked him.
She didn't work it out herself.

It's legit. The leak is real.

The unseen Infinity Space Lanes Captain's name is Rupert Crandall (commands the Inside Straight, which is a broken ship). Kestra IM's him at the dinner table and he tells her the location of Soji's homeworld ("in the Vice Sector, the Hoolian system. Planet doesn't even have a name, just a number.")

The episode is really, really sappy, but it's a reunion episode, so understandable. I'm like Picard in that I don't like kids onscreen, so sorta tuned out the Kestra-Soji stuff. The dead son's full name was Thaddeus Troi-Riker, per a trophy, so I presume Kestra has a similar double barrelled surname.

And here's the part where no one will believe me: When Picard winds up on the Troi-Riker homestead, he mentions that he's in danger. Riker immediately raises shields (and we see the flicker of force field lights outside, implying a very close shield... although we later see them cook and eat pizza outside) and says they've been in danger before. Picard says its Romulans, so Riker initiates anti-cloaking scans, whatever that might be. But before that he mentions who caused the danger before, and I think he says Kzinti.

That doesn't make sense, copyright-wise, so I presumed I misheard Xindi. But upon relistening, it's definitely multiple syllables like Ka-zin-ti. Maybe it's a new race that sounds like that. We'll know for sure on Thursday when a copy of the episode is released without Japanese subtitles. But if it is the first post-1973 reference to the Kzinti, that is going to be a big deal for some people.

Nepenthe is mentioned to have regenerative properties (a little like the Ba'ku planet, I assume), and that's why they moved there, because their son was dying of Mendaxic neurosclerosis ("MN"). MN is a silicon-based virus that is rare and curable if the "infected cells are cultured in an active positronic matrix." Which of course, were banned by Starfleet. Although Nepenthe, due to the Kzinti reference before, seems to be outside of the Federation. Maybe.

It was Kzinti according to the subtitles.

Pretty good. I don't like giving out two 10s in the space of three episodes, but here we are.

Riker and Troi remind me of a couple with a family I actually know, who live out in the middle of nowhere. I've known them even longer than 35 years. More like my entire life. They're a lot like them and so are their kids. So I'm a more than a little bit biased.

The Positronic Matrix Line confuses me. They are supposed to be incredibly hard to create with only Data and Lore having one. I doubt they would have had one available to cure that silicone disease Thad had.
Why not take him to Ba’ku? Maybe that could have helped him.

Soji: Grrr, my so obviously super shady Romulan boyfriend who was already super secretive even in bed tried to kill me, I can't trust anyone!!!

Riker: Let's watch some old Enterprise mission logs together, these 2 are entitled "Future Imperfect" and "Frame of Mind". I trust afterwards your situation won't seem so bad in comparison to what I had to go through.

Riker: "While we're at it let's also watch 'The Host.' Having my body enslaved by a Trill host, who then slept with Dr Crusher was no fun!!"

I know that but the way it was done was very similar to kid looking it up in a phone.
Asking the Internet is similar anyway.

How could Riker even be in active reserve if the Fed won't even help him save his son? He has even more reason to hate Starfleet than Picard!

So kind of lucky that the Sikarian device dropped Picard and Soji off right where they needed to be on Nepenthe. Unless there was something I missed in the queencell scene from the last episode, that made blowing up the Death Star seem trivial in comparison.

l.

At least they did not show Troi's anguish on screen now like what was featured in 'The Child' right after she lost her 'son.'.
I always cringed watching episodes where she was taken over/mind-raped by an alien entity :weep::weep::confused::confused:.

Probably because he doesn’t blame the entire organisation for a decision a few made. Plus he knows there are threats out there that may require him to re-enlist. Similar to that in Sisko fighting the Borg in the novels after he retired.

Heh ... Plot Transporter.

SInce it's pretty obvious that Jean-Luc had visited the Rikers before, he probably gave Hugh something more than just the planets name, but off camera.

I really liked that They pretty much made this entire episode about Jean-Luc visiting the Rikers.

Quite impressive that Will had the Riker compound pretty much loaded for bear with an extensive defense system.
Almost sounded like he had a starships entire defense system installed.

- Loved everything on Nepenthe. Riker and Troi helping further rehabilitate Picard to being the captain they remember. I don't think they needed to have them having lost a child though. Kestra was a great kid character.
- Hugh dying was a little crushing.

So does anyone know how Seven's Fenris Rangers beacon ended up there? Was it Picard's or is it a different one?
