They expanded too quickly to keep
    Up with the demand.

Yep. Additionally, every time they opened a new warehouse or data center, their delivery schedule went into the shitter for several months. That’s what I initially thought was happening this time around, but it’s been going on for way too long now. Something else is going on with them.

I know this is slightly off topic but they just revealed their first look at the Orville model. I’m definitely getting that when it’s out.

I gave up on the starships line 2 years ago, over their inability to deliver releases to subscribers in a timely fashion. Canceled my subscription, and told them exactly why I was getting off the sinking ship.

Signed up for the graphic novel collection, which was solid for a year, but absolutely fell off a cliff in 2019, when they (apparently) doubled production to weekly. As a subscriber, I got maybe 6 shipments in 2019, so maybe 12 of ~50 promised volumes. The last shipment was around thanksgiving.

And now it’s likely to get worse (although no shipments in three months is pretty bad...)

    Eaglemoss is simply incompetent.

Not that it matters re: Eaglemoss shipments, but, from the CDC’s Q&A page on the coronavirus:

“Q: Am I at risk for COVID-19 from a package or products shipping from China?

A: There is still a lot that is unknown about the newly emerged COVID-19 and how it spreads. Two other coronaviruses have emerged previously to cause severe illness in people (MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV). The virus that causes COVID-19 is more genetically related to SARS-CoV than MERS-CoV, but both are betacoronaviruses with their origins in bats. While we don’t know for sure that this virus will behave the same way as SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, we can use the information gained from both of these earlier coronaviruses to guide us. In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread most often by respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of COVID-19 in the United States associated with imported goods.”

^^^ Thank you for that. I was wondering if my latest shipment should actually be opened yesterday.

This is supposed to be Pike's Enterprise!? Just about everything about it is wrong! The bridge, the font, the nacelle end caps, the nacelle grills, the colors...

Yeah, definitely missing quite a bit to that one. They got the nacelle grilles right, but that's about it. FWIW, they got the bridge and bussards wrong on the ISS Enterprise too, which should have been in the older style as well. Oh, well... All things considered, and to be fair, this has not been their biggest blunder.

That's really the only reason I've begrudgingly tolerated the subscription path all these years, despite its massive flaws. Makes things a bit cheaper overall.

I’m a U.K. discovery subscriber and I haven’t yet received the ISS Charon. Just wondering if anyone else was in the same boat?

That’s surprising... The UK parent operation always seemed on top of their game compared to their “colonial” cousins. When this series first kicked off (and back when I was getting the Official Fact Files many years ago) they were really good and never missed a beat. Took forever to get stuff, though, but it was guaranteed to get there, reliably. I miss those days. I would easily accept late delivery if it meant guaranteed delivery.

Can’t speak for UK people, but my Charon appeared a couple weeks ago - in the US. UK deliveries always seem to get sent out first. The fact you haven’t gotten yours yet would definitely be an indication of a problem to me.

I was at my local Joseph-Beth Bookseller, and they had the 1701-A bundled with the 'Designing the 1701' book for $49.99.

    I was weak...

Correction: It is the NCC-1701 & NCC-1701-A Illustrated Handbook. I was a bit drunk when I bought it last night.

They have the Discovery version sandwiched between the two TOS versions, and my twelve year old states, "that's stupid". From the mouths of babes!

Is anyone else having trouble ordering from the UK site? I've been trying to order a haul of new models for the last couple of days, but the “Place your order” button just doesn't seem to work. It always times out after a couple of moments.

Also: I will order the Orville model in a heartbeat. The XL version looks awesome!
