Finally saw it again last night. Still awesome.
A ton of my work colleagues have seen it too and their reactions are very divisive.

I love Rey's theme, but it's the only piece of new music in the sequel trilogy that stood out for me.
There was a more energetic version of her theme in the Rise of Skywalker.
I liked the theme at the end of The Force Awakens where Rey finds Luke. To me, that came closest to the majesty of his classic trilogy and prequel trilogy (whatever one thinks about the prequels, John William definitely delivers here) scores.
Eh. It doesn't matter how painful the birthing process was. What matters is the results. Granted, I give most of the credit to "Across the Stars" for being an excellent main theme. There may be more subtle bits where he's done more comprehensive work in other films. But for a single piece, "Across the Stars" is tough to beat.
Not gonna lie, until this thread I thought the sequel trilogy was Michael Giacchino doing a John Williams impression.
Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Giacchino didn't ghost write some of it. Giacchino did do a very good Williams impression in Rogue One.
Meanwhile, whenever I hear Rey's theme in the sequel trilogy, I keep thinking, "Meanwhile, at Hogwarts..."

It's okay. Well executed but claims to be making a much deeper statement than it actually is. Like they're the first ones ever to think of playing on anger toward the wealthy and apathetic.
If you've seen Scorcese's 70s and 80s output, it's like the director took plot points from Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy, turned them up to an un-nuanced 11 and copy pasted them into Gotham City. Even straight down to casting. They took the actor who played the struggling comedian in King of Comedy who kidnapped a late night talk show host and cast him as the last night talk show host.
Joker is to Scorsese films as The Orville is to Bermantrek.
