Joker Origin Story Announced

After causing the whole mess and becoming a martyr just for a sick laugh.
Again, you and I read much different comics then I.
They never went THIS far, not even White Knight.

And there's also their own comments of how he isn't the Joker.
Which version of "not the Joker?" Seriously, this character has been adapted many times over and yet comic book fans act like its never been done before, and wring their hands over the injustice of it all. What a load of garbage.

If it has never been done before (I doubt it but I'll play along) then what's the issue? Comic books, like most art, respond to the times in which they are created. So, why not take a new interpretation of this character who has been interpreted time and again in its history?

Even in the comics there have been so many crazy Elseworlds and alternate universe versions of characters, it can be almost impossible to say that a character couldn't be presented in a certain way.
Anybody who actually expects the Academy to nominate an MCU movie without some extra motivation doesn't understand the Oscars, they are just plain not the kind of movies that the Academy likes. The only reason Black Panther was nominated was because it was such a huge game changing phenomenon, not because it was actually the kind of movie they nominate. I loved Black Panther, but it just wasn't the kind of movie they usual go for, so there clearly had to be more going on with it.
And it's ridiculous to judge an MCU movie like Endgame against Joker, because it just wasn't that kind of movie, and it wasn't trying to be. Now I haven't seen Joker yet, but Endgame was pretty much just simple popcorn entertainment, while Joker was going for something a bit deeper. I don't mean that as an insult to Endgame, I loved Endgame, and overall I prefer simple popcorn entertainment to stuff trying to go deeper. I can enjoy popcorn entertainment at pretty much anytime, but I have to be in a very specific mood when I watch something like Joker. Sometimes you can get a popcorn movie that does go deeper, but those tend to be the exception rather than the rule.

Feige already sold out. He merely goes after the easy cash instead of awards. Knowing folks like you will buy anything that says "Marvel" on it.

Truth; they know certain Marvel fans worship at the altar of whatever is crapped on it, and will spend their last dollar with not even a hint a part of a critical eye. Like bad cartoon franchises, they will keep that same format going until there's only one person left watching it.

Joker has been that character who has flexed and moved with the times. Let's not pretend that he is a static character who only recently has been changed by Phoenix and Phillips. They are doing what comics have always done-adapted.

Well said--but then again, you actually are aware of the Joker's history, unlike some angry MCU fan posting things with about as much historical accuracy as the random Wikipedia page, and we know accuracy is not high on the priorities list there.

I find this post highly insulting.
EDIT:
I am seriously getting sick of you shitting on the MCU and it fans, I get you don't like them, but that doesn't give you the right to act like everyone that does is a completely fucking braindead moron. I might not be fucking Albert Enstein, but I'm not sitting around all day drooling on myself either, in fact I do have an above average IQ. I don't just love everything Marvel does because it's Marvel, I am more than happy to admit that Inhumans really wasn't that great. But pretty much everything else they have done I have enjoyed, and as long as their hit/miss ratio continues to lean on the hit side for me, I will gladly continue to watch what they are making.

"certain Marvel fans"

Learn to read. "Certain" is not all, so unless you are--by your own free will--placing yourself in the same box as Anwar, your rant is misguided, hyper defensive nonsense.

John Williams already won an Oscar for scoring the original SW. He hasn't won again for scoring in that series, despite having been nominated a total of five other times (altogether six times, for all of the OT and all of the ST; never for the PT, incredibly).

John Williams is a legend but I have to be honest. I saw Rise of Skywalker twice and can't remember one bit of music from that movie other than the repeat scores from the classic trilogy. I remembered absolutely nothing about the original score in that movie.

I didn't remember anything about the Joker score either. When I think of great movie scores, The Rise of Skywalker and Joker do not come to mind ever.

Same here.

What!?!? OK, that's bullshit! The Phantom Menace & Attack of the Clones were the absolute best work of Williams' career!

I can't say I really noticed the music in Joker. But then, I didn't really notice the music in The Rise of Skywalker, 1917, or really most any of the movies I've seen over the last year. I liked Giacchino's score for Spider-Man: Far from Home but that's about it.

Overall, I didn't much care for Joker. Too dour for my tastes. I suppose it did a good job of capturing the angst of the current national mood but I don't know that it actually had anything to say about it. That said, I was suitably impressed by Joaquin Phoenix's performance. If it were up to me, I probably would have given the award to DiCaprio just because I thought his movie was more fun. But Phoenix certainly put in the work to deserve it, so I'm fine with that choice.

Got the 4K steelbook today. I forgot I even ordered it.might give it a watch one day. See what the fuss is all about.
