Which version of "not the Joker?" Seriously, this character has been adapted many times over and yet comic book fans act like its never been done before, and wring their hands over the injustice of it all. What a load of garbage.They never went THIS far, not even White Knight.
And there's also their own comments of how he isn't the Joker.
If it has never been done before (I doubt it but I'll play along) then what's the issue? Comic books, like most art, respond to the times in which they are created. So, why not take a new interpretation of this character who has been interpreted time and again in its history?
